Dre London took to social media to claim that Republic Records and Universal Music Group are forbidding Post Malone from dropping a “BIG” album. Posty’s longtime manager shared a photo of them on Instagram and wrote, “Our sync & energy always on a Insane level!! Album has been done!! We Ready!! But seems @republicrecords @universalmusicgroup isn’t.” He continued, “Posty fans no more need to press me anymore we did our part!! The BPM Festival Costa Rica Postpones 2022 Event

Two days before it was scheduled to begin, organizers of The BPM Festival Costa Rica have postponed the event. The festival had been scheduled to take place in the beach town of Tamarindo, Costa Rica from Jan. 12-18, 2022. Organizers have not yet published new dates. “After more than a year of planning and looking forward to welcoming you to our 15th anniversary edition, we sympathize with your sense of disappointment and frustration and are beyond heartbroken to share this news with you,” BPM organizers wrote in a statement. This postponement is due to new country-wide restrictions announced today (Jan. 10) that ban mass gatherings, among other regulations. These regulations will extend from Jan. 11-23. R.I.P. James Mtume, Jazz and R&B Musician Dead at 76

James Mtume, the multi-instrumentalist who performed with Miles Davis before founding the R&B group Mtume, has died at the age of 76, Pitchfork reports. No cause of death has been revealed. The son of jazz saxophonist Jimmy Heath, James Mtume (born James Heath Jr.) grew up in a musical environment. He was raised by his mother, Bertha Forman, and pianist James “Hen Gates” Forman, who played in Charlie Parker’s band and introduced Mtume to the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, and Sonny Rollins. In 1969, Mtume took on percussion on his uncle Albert “Tootie” Heath’s album Kawaida, which also featured Jimmy Heath, Don Cherry, and Herbie Hancock.
