Terrace Martin Announces New Album Drones, Shares “Leave Us Be”: Stream

Terrace Martin has announced a new album, Drones, out Friday via Sounds of Crenshaw / BMG. If three days is too long of a wait, the jazz musician shared the first single “Leave Us Be” today. Drones offers commentary on the growing sense of apathy in American culture, and seeks to unmask the Black American experience in what Martin calls a “Black Disneyland.” An all-star lineup of collaborators helps him accomplish this goal. After Martin produced notable works from Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, YG, and more, the artists have come back to return the favor, making Drones a who’s who of modern hip-hop. Lamar, Snoop, Ty Dolla $ign, and James Fauntelroy all appear on the title track, while Leon Bridges, Smino, Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, and more appear elsewhere on the album. Pre-ord...

Rosalía Announces New Album Motomami, Teases First Single: Stream

Spanish pop star Rosalía has shared a 15-second song clip on Instagram that ends with the words, “New Album Motomami 2022.” At this point, it’s unclear if “Motomami” is also the name of a single, but she repeats it several times during the musical snippet. If the clip is any indication, whatever’s coming next is a marked departure from her 2018 album El Mal Querer, an experimental concept album inspired by flamenco and based on a 13th century Occitan novel. The Motomami preview includes thunderous bass and percussion, interspersed with short moments of silence in which Rosalía purrs, “Motomami, motomami, motomami!” At first blush, it sounds much closer to hyperpop than her twist on flamenco. In the video, which may be a sneak peek at a music video, she appears covered in mud, wea...

Ed Sheeran Is ‘Excited To Hit The Ground Running’ After COVID-19 Isolation

This weekend, Ed Sheeran is set to stop by Saturday Night Live as the musical guest in a show hosted by Succession star (and eternal onscreen snot-boy treasure) Kieran Culkin. This pairing was announced on October 23, but the very next day, Sheeran revealed he’d tested positive for COVID-19 and had entered self-isolation and begun “following government guidelines.” For the past few weeks, that news had left the status of the upcoming show in limbo, and into that void even entered a viral plea to let The Mountain Goats play the show instead. But it seems that will not be necessary: Sheeran updated today (November 2) that he’s been released from COVID-19 isolation and that he’s “excited to hit the ground running with work again.” Some of that work, o...

J Spaceman has announced a new Spiritualized album. Entitled Everything Was Beautiful, it will be released on February 25th, 2022 via Fat Possum Records. As a preview, he’s shared the lead single, “Always Together with You.” As with most new releases these days, Spaceman wrote Everything Was Beautiful during the pandemic. In a statement, he said he thrived in the “beautiful solitude” and found inspiration in his walks through an empty “Roman London” [which were] “full of birdsong and strangeness and no contrails.” Spaceman plays 16 different instruments in Everything Was Beautiful, but also employed a massive collective of guest contributors, including string and brass sections and choirs. The seven-track album was recorded in 11 different studios, as well as in his home. Advertisement Rel...

Gojira and Randy Blythe Perform Joint Song “Adoration for None” for First Time Ever: Watch

Gojira and Randy Blythe performed their collaborative song “Adoration for None” together for the first time ever during the former’s headlining concert last night (November 1st) in the Lamb of God singer’s hometown of Richmond, Virginia. Blythe appeared on the studio version of the track from Gojira’s 2008 album The Way of All Flesh, and it took over a decade before the French band and the Lamb of God frontman to perform it live on the same stage. At the time the song was recorded, Gojira were emphasizing elements of death and groove metal in their sonic onslaught — the perfect canvas for Blythe’s guttural vocals. The song sounds massive in the fan footage of the Richmond performance. Advertisement Related Video Blythe has been an outspoken Gojira fan ever since the band broke on...
