They went on hiatus following their biggest live show to date at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2010. In a press statement, the group explained they first started working on songs appearing on the new album shortly after dropping The Incident: “‘Harridan’ and a few of the other new songs have been in play since shortly after the release of The Incident. Cat Power announced today that she’s heading out on tour early next year. Additionally, she’s shared her new rendition of “Pa Pa Power” by Dead Man’s Bones from her upcoming album, Covers. The singer-songwriter reimagines the 2009 track by Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields into a haunting, melancholy dirge, replacing the children’s choir and plinking synths of the original with her own backing vocals and dreamy electric guitar. “Burn the streets, burn the cars/ Power/ Broken glass, but what about/ Our broken hearts/ Please make me better/ Please make me powerful,” she sings into dual mics in the accompanying music video, tweaking the song’s lyrics ever so slightly in the process. Amid multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, Marilyn Manson has found an unlikely ally in Kanye West. After appearing alongside Kanye at a listening event for his latest album, Donda, earlier this year, the disgraced rocker was again spotted with Kanye on Sunday — this time at his Sunday Service gospel concert. What’s more, Justin Bieber was also on hand. Manson, Bieber, and rapper Roddy Ricch all joined Kanye and his Sunday Service gospel choir for a rooftop performance held on Halloween. All of the parties were dressed entirely in white — with Manson also choosing to obscure his face with a mask. Alongside performances of Donda tracks like “No Child Left Behind” and “Moon” by the Sunday Service choir, Bieber and Ricch also performed a selection of their own songs. Kanye has seemingly ...

Day 2 of Outside Lands brought double the energy and double the costumes: with plenty of Ted Lassos, Squid Game tracksuits, Super Mario and Where’s Waldo outfits, San Francisco showed up on Halloween Eve (October 30th) in style. Even more eclectic were Saturday’s epic performances, capped off brilliantly by a one-of-a-kind headlining set from Lizzo. Elsewhere in Golden Gate Park on Saturday was a rock-forward set from Vampire Weekend, a pair of great rap shows from Rico Nasty and Aminè (who replaced Young Thug at the last minute), and an impressive, face-melting performance from Post Animal. Bill Maher didn’t mince words when he addressed the recent lawsuit brought against Nirvana by Spencer Elden, who was photographed 30 years ago as the naked baby on the cover of Nevermind. During the most recent episode of his Real Time show on HBO, Maher told Elden to “stop being such a f**king baby.” Back in August, Elden sued surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, the estate of Kurt Cobain, and other parties for sexual exploitation, alleging the underwater photo of him as a four-month-old on the iconic album cover amounted to child pornography. He is seeking at least $150,000 in damages from each of the defendants, who also include Courtney Love, Universal Music Group, photographer Kirk Weddle, and drummer Chad Channing (who barely appears on Nevermind after being...
There’s no place like Harryween! On Saturday night, Harry Styles performed “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” during his Halloween-themed show at Madison Square Garden, and even channeled Dorothy Gale while he was at it. Serving pure Wizard of Oz fantasy, the superstar donned a blue gingham dress with a bow in his hair, bright red leggings, bobby socks and a pair of the iconic ruby slippers as he crooned, “Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high/ There’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby/ Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue/ And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.” Naturally, Styles also ran through his catalog of solo hits during the show, including “Only Angel,” “Lights Up,” “Watermelon Sugar,” and “Kiwi.” And of course the concert wasn’t complete without a ret...
The War on Drugs just unveiled their fifth studio album, I Don’t Live Here Anymore, and they’re keeping the release weekend festivities rolling with a live performance on CBS This Morning’s Saturday Sessions. The Philadelphia rock band ripped through album highlights “Old Skin,” “Change,” and “Occasional Rain.” Watch the replay below. Though I Don’t Live Here Anymore is full of ’80s-inspired, arena-sized riffs, these tracks translate well to the intimate studio space. Frontman Adam Granduciel has a knack for writing songs that are perhaps best heard live, and in these close quarters, each aspect of the song is distinguishable, even as they’re layered on top of each other. The War on Drugs also recently brought their studio sessions to late night TV with a performance of thei...
