JPEGMAFIA Announces New Album, Shares “TRUST!”: Stream

It’s been six month since JPEGMAFIA last wore out our exclamation point keys with “LAST DANCE!,” “FIX URSELF!,” and the rest of EP2! Now he’s back with the new song “TRUST!,” which is the first taste of an as-yet untitled fourth album. Additionally, Peggy has announced a 2021 US tour, which will be followed by a 2022 European trek. LP4 will be the rapper/producer’s first full-length since 2019’s All My Heroes Are Cornballs. “TRUST!” has a bright beat that bounces back and forth like a plinko game, with lyrics that show a serious lack of the title word. “I can’t believe that shit,” he says, “I don’t believe that bitch/ I don’t believe these n****s, bruh, they be lyin’.” Check it out below. Few details are available for LP4, but it’s expected this fall, and...

Rammstein’s Till Lindemann Questioned by Russian Police Prior to Festival Cancellation

Rammstein singer Till Lindemann was questioned by Russian police prior to the cancellation of a music festival in the city of Tver. Lindemann was booked to play the festival, which reportedly would have violated COVID-19 protocols. Exaggerated reports circulated this weekend claiming that Lindemann had been arrested by police. Rather, police only visited the Rammstein singer’s hotel on Saturday night. According to German newspaper Bild (via DW), the purpose of the meeting was to make sure Lindemann complied with COVID regulations while performing in Tver. Ultimately, the event was canceled outright. However, Lindemann’s manager, Anar Reiband, does face charges after allegedly violating Russia’s migration laws. When initially entering the country, Reiband apparently claimed the purpose...

Ranking Every Kanye West Album From Worst to Best

This article originally ran in 2016 and has been updated. Welcome to Dissected, where we disassemble a band’s catalog, a director’s filmography, or some other critical pop-culture collection in the abstract. It’s exact science by way of a few beers. This time, we sort through the best and worst of Yeezy country. Over the years, Kanye West has been many things to many different people. He started off as Jay-Z’s secret weapon, a budding super-producer pumping out hits like “Izzo (H.O.V.A.),” “Takeover,” and “Encore,” prompting Jay-Z to interrupt The Black Album to shout, “Kanyeezy, you did it again, you a genius!” That was probably one of the last times West was called Kanyeezy, and one of the first times the g-word was tossed around. In 2004, West launched his solo career and sold himself t...

The Velvet Underground Documentary From Todd Haynes Gets First Trailer: Watch

Todd Haynes has shared the first trailer for his upcoming documentary on The Velvet Underground. The film will debut in theaters and on Apple TV+ on October 15th. Watch the trailer below. The film, titled simply The Velvet Underground, features in-depth interviews with the band’s surviving members and other key figures from the era, as well as a treasure trove of never-before-seen performances, studio recordings, experimental art, and films by their one-time manager and longtime supporter Andy Warhol. Though The Velvet Underground marks Haynes’ first-ever documentary, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker has plenty of experiencing telling music-centric stories.  He first gained attention in the film industry with Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story, his 1987 short chronicling Karen Carpente...

Beyond the Boys’ Club: Willow Smith on Embracing Rock, Her Mother’s Influence, and Opening for Billie Eilish

Beyond the Boys’ Club is a monthly column from journalist and radio host Anne Erickson, focusing on women in the heavy music genres, as they offer their perspectives on the music industry and discuss their personal experiences. Erickson is also a music artist herself, recently releasing the song “Eternal Way” with Upon Wings. This month’s piece features an interview with Willow Smith. Many music acts take an entire career to churn out four studio albums, but Willow Smith has already achieved that feat at the age of 20. If you count her collaborative LP (The Anxiety) with Tyler Cole, then it’s five albums, plus a handful of EPs. Willow recently released a rock-inspired new album Lately I Feel Everything, featuring a raw, alternative vibe with heavy guitars, punky rhythms and powerful vocals...

Korn’s Jonathan Davis “Struggling with COVID After-Effects,” Sits on Throne While Performing

Korn singer Jonathan Davis is still “struggling with COVID after-effects,” according to guitarist Brian “Head” Welch. Davis recently performed with the aid of a throne to sit in during a concert this past Friday (August 27th) in Tinley Park, Illinois. It marked Korn’s return to the road after Davis revealed his positive COVID test on August 16th, resulting in the postponement of six shows and the cancellation of two concerts on the band’s current US tour. The metal vocalist is clearly still feeling the effects of the virus, which can cause longterm, lingering physical and mental issues long after an individual tests negative. Fan footage from Friday’s Illinois show and Saturday’s Noblesville, Indiana, concert sees Davis sitting on a shiny throne, which is just as decadent as his H.R. ...

Whether you’re loving or hating the effort, you can always look back on the good ol’ days with our list of his top 20 songs. To find out, see Kanye’s 20 best songs, ranked from worst to best, below. Advertisement Share this: You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined wh...

When You Stare Into the Abyss, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy Artwork Stares Back

Emojis were born in 1997 — a bit old for Drake’s tastes, though that hasn’t stopped the rapper from impregnating a dozen of them for the official cover artwork of his new album Certified Lover Boy.  The horrifying image is not a figment of a nightmare, though we at Consequence have tried pinching ourselves in the hope that the dead-eyed avatars would disappear. Drizzy — nope, not gonna call him that, too easy to imagine him drizzling all over his phone keyboard — Drake shared the cursed artwork in an Instagram post on Monday, August 30th. Here it is, in all its stomach-roiling glory: Advertisement Related Video In the process, he tagged conceptual artist Damien Hirst, who is believed to be guilty responsible for the depiction. Hirst is a man after Drake’s own heart...

Drake Will (Finally) Be Your Certified Lover Boy On September 3

After multiple delays, Drake confirmed on Monday (August 30) that he will finally be dropping his new studio album, Certified Lover Boy, this Friday. Get ready. On Instagram, Drake posted an image of multiple pregnant-mother emojis in various skin tones and shirt colors. The image is set to be the official album cover, and he captioned the post, in all caps, “Certified Lover Boy September 3.” Last week, a cryptic video clip that teased the release date for the highly anticipated album was aired by SportsCenter on ESPN. The clip showed some sports highlights and then was interrupted by glitching footage and warped audio of someone holding a sign that read, “CLB September 3.” In a response to the so-called interruption, SportsCenter tweeted: “We want to apologize for any interruptions v...
