FINNEAS’ debut album is finally on its way. The eight-time Grammy winner has officially announced the release date for his first full-length studio effort, Optimist, and dropped lead single “A Concert Six Months From Now” in the process. As if that weren’t enough, he’s also announced a headlining tour of North America. Following the singer-songwriter’s signing to Interscope Records — the same label home as his sister Billie Eilish — Optimist is set to be unveiled October 15th. The album’s hopeful title comes from the lyrics of its lead single, which finds the 23-year-old desperately attempting to win back a lost love. “Your favorite band is back on the road/ And this fall they’re playin’ the Hollywood Bowl/ I’ve already purchased two seats for their show/ I guess I’m an optimist/ 2011, you...
For several years now, Aaliyah’s uncle Barry Hankerson has promised that the late R&B pop star’s music would finally be uploaded to streaming services. This time, it’s actually going to happen. In an interview with Billboard, Hankerson revealed that all of Aaliyah’s music will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and the like starting on August 20th. Technically, fans have had access to Aaliyah’s 1994 debut album Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number and a few early singles for a while now. But the majority of her catalog, including 1996’s One in a Million and 2001’s self-titled album, have been unavailable to stream this whole time. According to Hankerson, who owned the original Blackground Records and the majority of Aaliyah’s masters aside from her debut LP, that decision was in accordanc...

Hot on the heels of her smash hit premiere single, ”Lemonade”, fast-rising Nigerian talent and Aristokrat Records’ singing sensation Ria Sean, who has been buzzing in the Nigerian underground for a while, releases brilliant new visuals to her sophomore single ”Moneybag”. While ‘Lemonade’ was a melodic sound that beautifully spoke of the ups and downs of relationships, ‘Moneybag” is the complete opposite where the fiesty artist is all about getting her paper. These two sounds, different in every way, are a part of the talented singer’s unique sound; a fusion of Afropop, R&B with Lo-Fi undertones; a clear testimony of her musical influences that include world-renowned artists Brandy, Chris Brown, Frank Ocean, to mention a few. Known by many as a vocal powerhouse and recognised for her un...

Miley Cyrus has reached out to DaBaby to start a conversation about his homophobic remarks, saying, “It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds.” The controversy began last month at Rolling Loud Miami. DaBaby asked the crowd to get hyped, while specifically telling gay fans and those with HIV/AIDS that they were not invited to participate. He was roundly criticized, and in response he issued a series of half-assed apologies and released a music video in which defended his “freedom” to be a bigot. He soon found himself dropped from several festivals. Now, Cyrus has reached out to the homophobic rapper. “@DaBaby check your DMS,” she said in a social media post, “would love to talk and see how we can...
One week after dropping her latest album, Happier Than Ever, pop wunderkind Billie Eilish stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge for a four-song set highlighted by her stunning cover of “I’m in the Mood for Love.” While accompanied by FINNEAS on an acoustic guitar, Eilish delivered her take on Julie London’s 1955 version of “I’m in the Mood for Love” in a rich, sultry tone while singing lyrics like, “Heaven is in your eyes/ Bright as the stars we’re under.” “I’m in the Mood for Love” was introduced by Frances Langford in the 1935 film, Every Night at Eight, becoming her signature song to perform for American troops during World War II. Other artists who’ve covered the ballad over the years include Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Paul Anka, Barbra Streisand, and Rod Stewart. Advertisem...
Fans planning to catch Fall Out Boy on the Hella Mega Tour alongside Weezer and Green Day were bummed when the pop-punk icons pulled out of the New York City and Boston dates after a member of their team tested positive for COVID-19. But the show must go on, so last night at Citi Field, Weezer and opening act The Interrupters ensured the crowd’s Fall Out Boy hunger was satiated by ripping through not one, but two covers of “Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down.” It’s unclear whether or not the double-cover situation was accidental, but who would complain about getting to hear “Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down” twice in one night? While The Interrupters kept more true to the original punky attitude of the 2005 hit, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo took a one-man approach with just his voice and guitar, making t...
