Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak may only have one single out under their collaborative Silk Sonic moniker, but that didn’t stop the duo form nabbing Best Group at the 2021 BET Awards on Sunday night. Later in the evening, they proved that their joint star power alone made them worthy of the honor by performing their hit “Leave the Door Open” at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre. The last time Lil Nas X took to a nationally televised stage, the viral rapper went viral for all the wrong reasons when his pants ripped during his Saturday Night Live performance. Thankfully, he was safe from a repeat wardrobe malfunction during his appearance on Sunday night’s BET Awards. The chart-topping rapper may have not been up for any awards during Culture’s Biggest Night, but he delivered the goods with a streamy performance of “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)”, which culminated with a long kiss with one of his backing dancers. DMX was honored at tonight’s BET Awards with a star-studded performance curated by his close friend Swizz Beatz and featuring Busta Rhymes, Method Man, Jadakiss, The Lox, the rap collective Griselda, and actor Michael K. Williams. The performance kicked off with Method Man performing “Get At Me Dog” a cappella before giving way to Griselda to spit their posthumous collaboration “Hood Blues”. Williams, channeling DMX to a T, then took the stage and recited the lyrics to “Slippin’”. R.I.P. Johnny Solinger, Ex-Skid Row Singer Dies at 55
Johnny Solinger, the longest tenured singer of Skid Row, died Saturday (June 26th) at the age of 55. The rock vocalist had announced that he was suffering from liver failure in May. A statement from Skid Row read, “We are saddened to hear the news of our brother Johnny Solinger. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans. Godspeed Singo. Say hello to Scrappy for us.” Solinger became Skid Row’s singer when the when the multiplatinum rock band re-formed in 1999 without vocalist Sebastian Bach following their 1996 breakup. He recorded two studio albums (2003’s Thickskin and 2006’s Revolutions Per Minute) and two EPs (United World Rebellion: Chapter 1 and Rise of the Damnation Army – United World Rebellion: Chapter Two) with Skid Row before being fired from the group in 2015. Marilyn Manson to Surrender to Police on Warrant for Alleged Assault
Marilyn Manson is set to turn himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department on a New Hampshire warrant for his arrest, stemming from an alleged assault in which the singer is accused of repeatedly spitting on a videographer during a concert in 2019. The incident is not related to the allegations of sexual assault brought against Manson by numerous women in recent months. According to the Boston Globe and Los Angeles Times, Manson has reached an agreement with the police department in Guilford, New Hampshire, to surrender to the LAPD at a prearranged date, at which time he will be booked and go through the bail process.
