OMD Announce 2022 US Tour Dates
OMD — a.k.a. Orchestral Manoeuvres In the Dark — have announced a headlining tour for spring 2022. The “Souvenir Tour” will celebrate the British electronic band’s greatest hits over their expansive four-decade history. OMD will be hitting major North American cities in support of Souvenir, their massive 40th anniversary box set that came out in 2019. All told, the tour spans 24 dates taking place over April and May of next year. To tide fans over until 2022, OMD are also playing a livestream concert on June 19th called “You Me & OMD”. All proceeds from the livestream will be split among members of the band’s touring crew, who have been out of work since February 2020 because of the pandemic. Lido Pimienta Covers Björk’s Classic Single “Declare Independence”: Stream
With pride month underway, art-pop musician Lido Pimienta is celebrating occasion by recording a cover of Bjork’s “Declare Independence” for the LGBTQ community. Stream her take on the classic 2007 single below. The Grammy-nominated artist laid down the track as part of Spotify’s Pride 2021: Claim Your Space campaign, which encourages the queer community to “make noise, make their presence known, and make their own rules.” Of course, “Declare Independence” is a boisterous rallying cry about seeking justice, and Pimienta felt compelled to cover the song in a way that nodded to queer people around the world in particular who are asking for equality. Kendrick Lamar to Play Career-Spanning Headlining Set at Day N Vegas Festival
Kendrick Lamar will stage his only performance of 2021 at the Day N Vegas Festival this November. The Compton rapper will make his first live appearance in two years at the Las Vegas Festival Fairgrounds on Friday, November 12th. He’ll be presenting a unique set titled “One Night in Vegas. Code Orange are working on new songs with Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan. The alt-rock vet posted a picture with members of Code Orange in the studio, though little else is known about the collaboration so far. “Excited to share I’ve been working with Code Orange some on their blistering new songs,” Corgan shared on his Instagram story. It’s possible that Corgan is helping produce or co-write a few Code Orange tracks, or maybe he’s just contributing instrumentals or vocals to some new songs. The mysterious rollout of Tyler, the Creator’s new album continues with “Side Street”, a 40-second teaser with a twist ending. Album clues began dropping last week with a secretive website and billboard that seemed to promote something entitled Call Me if You Get Lost. “Side Street” doesn’t offer much new context, unless you think of the sunny woodwinds as an insight into Tyler’s sonic palette. Instead, it’s more of a skit. The rapper is seen on the hood of a pink car, holding a dog’s leash and kissing a woman. Post Malone joined the ranks of celebrities with porcelain veneers over the weekend, giving the procedure his own vampire-inspired twist by getting diamond fangs put in at the same time. According to TMZ, he spent a total of $1.6 million on cosmetic upgrades. The dental procedure was performed by celebrity dentist Thomas Connelly with cosmetic dentist Naoki Hayashi. The two diamonds reportedly weigh 12 carats combined and were created by Isaac Bokhoor’s team at Angel City Jewelers. Moog Accused of Enabling Misogyny, Verbal Abuse, Assault in Civil Rights Lawsuit
Moog, the famous synthesizer company based in Asheville, North Carolina, has been accused of workplace discrimination, verbal abuse, physical assault, and misogyny in a new federal civil rights lawsuit. According to The Asheville Blade, former sales assistant Hannah Green is suing the company for over $1 million to “make sure Moog Music never does this to anyone else ever again.” Green was hired as a sales assistant in 2018 and a “personal assistant to the head of sales.” By the end of the year, she was a full-time staff member that managed 20 accounts on her own, but her job title was never updated to reflect the additional tasks she was assigned beyond her job description.
