Polo G was arrested in Miami early Saturday morning on charges of battery against a police officer, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief. The Miami Herald reports that Polo G was booked into the Guilford Knight Correctional Center around 8:00 a.m. local time on Saturday. He was subsequently released after posting a $19,500 bond. In a video uploaded to Instagram, Polo G’s mother and manager, Stacia Mac, said that police pulled over her son and his younger brother while they were riding in a car following an album release party for Polo G’s Hall of Fame, which dropped earlier on Friday. Related Video “My kids called me in a frenzy saying the police are behind them, 20 cars behind them,” Mac said, adding that “They refused to let me speak to my minor son, who is 16 years old.” It’s un...

H.E.R. has announced the release date for her long-awaited debut album Back Of My Mind. The LP follows the R&B star’s two compilation albums — 2017’s H.E.R. and 2019’s I Used to Know Her — and is set to drop June 18th via MBK Entertainment/RCA Records. Ahead of the release, H.E.R. has also unveiled the project’s latest single, “We Made It”, which follows previously-released tracks “Damage” and the Chris Brown-assisted “Come Through”. Angel Du$t have surprise released their new EP, Bigger House, the follow up to last year’s Lil House EP. They also unveiled the music video to the track “Love Is the Greatest Thing” and fall tour dates with Mannequin Pussy. The song’s title suggests a ballad, and sure enough, it’s Angel Du$t unplugged, for the most part, with lush acoustic guitars and singer Justice Tripp’s clean vocal delivery. It’s surprisingly tender from the band known for mosh-ready melodic hardcore, but also displays their versatility as musicians. The track features subtle turntablism from LA producer Shlohmo. The Bigger House EP was produced by Rob Schnapf, known for his work with Elliott Smith and Kurt Vile. Perhaps the producer unleashed Angel Du$t’s inner singer-songwriter, as the lead single implies. Michelle Zauner, aka Japanese Breakfast, has blessed fans with a new version of “Be Sweet” sung entirely in Simlish. The track was recorded for the new Sims 4 expansion pack titled Cottage Living, out July 22. The buoyant and summery “Be Sweet” is a perfect pairing for the gibberish language, even when the chorus is translated to “Ba shug da vlee nooboo/ Ya wana baleesh da voo ya wana baleesh” from the original “Be sweet to me, baby/ I wanna believe in you, I wanna believe.” “Be Sweet” appears on Japanese Breakfast’s recently released album, Jubilee, which arrived last Friday. As The Verge points out, The Sims 4 Cottage Living isn’t Zauner’s first foray into video games. She also composed the soundtrack for Sable, an upcoming Xbox and PC open-world game. Some old hip-hop gems are about to be unearthed. Madlib and Declaime have just announced a new album that’s comprised of previously unreleased songs they recorded together back in the mid-90s. It’s called In the Beginning (Vol. 1) and they’re previewing it with the lead single “All Over the World”, which you can stream below. Looking at the tracklist for In the Beginning (Vol. 1), which spans 13 songs in total, the collection will boast a wide range of vintage material by the two that used to be lost to time on various mixtapes and B-sides. According to a press release, the record serves as a time capsule of sorts — back then, the legendary producer and the underground rapper were neighbors-turned-friends in California — and includes contributions from the Loot Pack and CDP crew members li...

Song of the Week breaks down and talks about the song we just can’t get out of our head each week. Find these songs and more on our Spotify Top Songs playlist. For our favorite new songs from emerging artists, check out our Spotify New Sounds playlist. This week, Lorde returns with a bright new song after four years. It’s been four years since we got new music from Lorde, and she seems happy. That’s enough to make us happy, too. After vanishing almost entirely from the public eye in 2017, the New Zealand singer-songwriter has only been heard from on a few sporadic occasions. Understandable: it’s probably difficult to write or share new music from Antarctica, where Lorde spent part of her hiatus. Third Man Records’ book imprint has announced that it’s releasing new memoirs by Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie and Echo and the Bunnymen’s Will Sergeant. It marks the first time the two British rock icons have recounted the details of their storied lives in writing. First up is Gillespie’s Tenement Kid, which is described as “a righteous path through a decade lost to Thatcherism and saved by acid house.” That may sound bleak, but rest assured that the memoir is supposed to be rather celebratory and beautifully written. It’s structured in four parts that examine Gillespie’s working-class upbringing in Glasgow, the early days of Primal Scream, the “Second Summer of Love”, and the lasting legacy of his band. Meanwhile, Sergeant’s memoir is titled Bunnyman: Post-War Kid to Post-Pun...
