Mdou Moctar Releases New Song “Afrique Victime”: Stream

Tuareg psych-rock artist Mdou Moctar is one of the best guitarists of this current era, and he’s back with more new music up his sleeve. Moctar has released the title track from his upcoming album Afrique Victime, due out May 21st via Matador, along with a black-and-white music video that splices live performance scenes together. Stream it below. This is the second single Mdou Moctar has shared from Afrique Victime, following “Tala Tannam”. This new seven-minute rallying cry sees him knead a pulsing groove and mesmerizing guitar riff into a foundation that stabilizes his mournful chants. “The wind born in Tunisia spread all over Arabia/ Africa is a victim of so many crimes,” he sings. “If we stay silent it will be the end of us/ Why is this happening?” It’s dizzying and powerful ...

The Voidz Share New Song “The Eternal Tao 2.0”: Stream

Julian Casablancas is back with a new(ish) track from The Voidz. It’s called “The Eternal Tao 2.0” and it came paired with a major league (hint hint) collaboration. In 2019, The Voidz released a one-off single called “The Eternal Tao”, which was a wacky psych-pop track that featured Casablancas singing through a vocoder and production from Mac DeMarco. Now, the New York band has released a “2.0” version of the track that’s nearly two minutes longer. Even weirder, the song was featured in an official opening day promo video for the New York Mets, which their channel SNY posted on their official YouTube page. Casablancas is a longtime Mets fanatic and he’s a very popular musician from the Big Apple, so a collaboration between the two entities isn’t that far out of left field. ...

Vicky Cornell, Her Lawyer, and Band’s Ex-Manager Hit Back at Soundgarden Members in Latest Legal Spat

Vicky Cornell, her lawyer, and a former band manager have all hit back at the remaining members of Soundgarden following the filing of legal papers earlier this week demanding Vicky relinquish the band’s social media and website passwords. The surviving band members claim that Vicky has let Soundgarden’s social media pages fall into disrepair. They said they’ve been locked out of the various social media accounts ever since go-between company Patriot Management gave Vicky the passwords in late 2019. It’s the latest in a long-running legal dispute between the Chris Cornell estate and Soundgarden. In a statement posted on the official Chris Cornell Instagram Stories, former manager Ron Lafitte’s appeared to side with Vicky Cornell’s camp: “During my six years working with Chris Cornell and S...

Radiohead Join TikTok With Cryptic New Video

Radiohead have officially joined TikTok. A verified account for the alt-rock legends appeared on the video app earlier this morning, but the only thing they’ve posted so far is proving very difficult to parse. The short clip features Radiohead’s mysterious associate Chieftain Mews delivering some sort of dystopian news broadcast at a desk with the words “Mews” emblazoned on it. The video is shot in black-and-white with a grainy, glitchy filter, and there’s some sort of strange logo on the wall behind Mews that resembles graffiti art. As always, Mews is wearing a bizarre bald cap that’s pulled down just above his eyes, and he’s rocking a suit — but no tie — a white undershirt, and dark-colored nail polish. What he says makes even less sense. “Say something,” we hear an off-camera voice at t...

BROCKHAMPTON season continues. The hip-hop boy band are back with another new song called “COUNT ON ME”, available for streaming below via Apple Music or Spotify. The track is the second preview from their upcoming album ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE, which is due out in full on April 9th. Last week, they gave us our first taste of the album with a joyfully chaotic new single called “Buzzcut” that featured Danny Brown. “COUNT ON ME” takes things in a more straightforwardly melodic direction, offering the type of bright hook that was absent on the fiery “Buzzcut”. While teasing the song on Twitter, Kevin Abstract described it as “summer time vibes.” “Ride around with the windows down with ya best friend singing super loud to the chorus type vibe – shows the other si...

Tetrarch Unleash Heavy New Song “Negative Noise” Ahead of Upcoming Album Unstable: Stream

Rising nu-metal revivalists Tetrarch will unveil their new album, Unstable, on April 30th. Ahead of its release, the Atlanta outfit has unleashed the heavy new single “Negative Noise”. The new track has been preceded by the singles “I’m Not Right” and “You Never Listen”, which have each garnered more than 1 million views on YouTube. While those songs gave off vibes similar to Korn and Linkin Park, “Negative Noise” is a much heavier affair, calling to mind the more extreme end of the nu-metal spectrum — with a definite nod to Slipknot. “‘Negative Noise’ is one of the heaviest songs on the new record,” stated frontman Josh Fore. “It mixes big riffs with thick bass, extreme drums and some of the most intense screams I’ve ever done. One of the highlights of the song is Diamond [Rowe]’s guitar ...
