Patti Smith has launched a newsletter on Substack called The reader is my notebook, in which she will share weekly pieces featuring written thoughts, poetry, and music. Paid subscribers will also receive access to her first serial, titled The Melting. While revealing she has written in hidden stacks of notebooks since the age of 12, Smith explained her motivation for the project. Reading and Leeds Festival is still planning to go forward with their August dates, but with some COVID-19 protocols that The Stone Roses’ frontman Ian Brown will have problems with: namely, vaccine cards. In a new interview with the BBC, Reading and Leeds organizer Melvin Benn said that twin festivals will “almost certainly” require attendees to show proof that they received their COVID-19 shots with special vaccination passports. It’s been a while, literally, since Staind put out any music, but Aaron Lewis and company have just announced a new live album documenting their 2019 comeback shows. Live: It’s Been Awhile will arrive on May 7th, and will be sandwiched by a pair of livestream events, including a full performance of the band’s multiplatinum 2001 album, Break the Cycle. The live album was captured at Staind’s pair of reunion shows at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, in October 2019. The concerts marked the group’s first headlining gigs following a five-year hiatus, and featured such hits as “For You”, “So Far Away”, “It’s Been Awhile”, and “Outside”. Brian Rohan, the San Francisco “dope lawyer” who represented celebrity clients like Grateful Dead and author Ken Kesey, has died at 84. He passed away at home in the Bay Area after a six-year-long battle with cancer, confirmed his daughter Kathleen Jolson. “My father grew up very straitlaced, and he was fascinated by what he saw in the Haight. Surveillance Footage Captures Altercation Between Quavo and Saweetie in Elevator
TMZ has obtained video of an altercation between Migos rapper Quavo and Saweetie. The incident took place in an elevator in Saweetie’s apartment building in 2020. In the surveillance footage, Quavo and Saweetie struggle over possession of an orange case. Saweetie appears to take a swing at Quavo, at which point he pushes her to the ground. Saweetie remains on the ground for several minutes — including when the elevator doors first open — before slowly picking herself up and limping out of view.
