Rocky Horror Picture Show Cast Will Reunite for Halloween Livestream Benefiting Wisconsin Democrats

There’s a rising star in leftist politics, and we don’t mean the California senator or the representative from the Bronx. No, it’s the talent booker for the Wisconsin Democratic Party, who has already put together cast reunions for Veep, Happy Days, The Princess Bride, and Parks and Recreation. Now, the donkeys in the Dairy State have announced a Halloween night livestream featuring music and actors from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Based on the 1973 musical The Rocky Horror Show, the RHPS film arrived in 1975 as an instant cult-classic. The gender-bending comedy took on new life after theaters in Los Angeles and San Francisco arranged midnight screenings with so-called “shadow casts” — groups of live performers who acted out the movie and encouraged audience participation. Kanye West Prefers the Star Wars Prequels to the Sequels

It’s not easy listening to Kanye West these days. So, you could imagine our surprise when we found ourselves nodding in approval as he discussed, of all things, the Star Wars franchise during a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience. “They said that George Lucas’ prequels are worse than the corporate-made Disney Star Wars,” West digressed. “Like, Revenge of the Sith? We saw how Darth Vader was made! Like, I watched that, like, 10 times during COVID.” He then went on to quote Obi-Wan Kenobi in that film’s climactic battle: “‘Don’t jump Anakin, I’ve got the high ground!’” Naturally, West pivoted to Disney’s recent run of sequels and spinoffs that have all proven polarizing, semi-arguing: “I’m saying even the prequels are better than anything that … And I’m sorry Disney Star Wars desig...

Kendrick Lamar Features on New Busta Rhymes Album

Busta Rhymes has convened a long list of special guests for his new album, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God. However, there’s one name that rules them all: King Kendrick Lamar. The Compton rapper features on a track called “Look Over Your Shoulder” and, believe it or not, it’s his very first release of 2020. “Look Over Your Shoulder” technically dates back a few years. The collaboration was initially leaked around 2018, and then recirculated online again in 2019. Even so, those earlier versions had Michael Jackson attached, while the 2020 iteration does not — meaning the song has evolved in some way since it first hit the web. Additionally, at this point — more than three years removed from DAMN. — we’ll take pretty much anything Kendrick gives us. Kung Fu Kenny was mos...

Stevie Nicks Played With Double Pneumonia at 2019 Rock Hall of Fame Ceremony

We already knew Stevie Nicks was an absolute legend, but here’s yet another reminder. In a new interview with Variety, the 72-year-old icon revealed that she was battling a nasty case of double pneumonia when she performed last year at the 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. “The night of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I knew before I went on stage that something was wrong with me, so I had to really pull it together,” Nicks told Variety. This was no ordinary case of the sniffles, either. The day after she took the stage before a national audience, the Fleetwood Mac member was rushed to a hospital in Philadelphia where she spent a week in the ICU being treated for the aforementioned pneumonia, as well as human metapneumovirus and asthma. “Talk about your oxygen levels...

Donald Trump Gains Lil Pump’s Endorsement, But Loses 50 Cent’s

We’re just over a week away from the election; if you truly don’t know who you’re voting for yet, there’s probably not a lot that can be said to convince you one way or another. But if for some reason what millionaire rappers think might sway you, consider this: Lil Pump has now endorsed Donald Trump, just as former champion 50 Cent has jumped off the bandwagon. Lil Pump made his political allegiance known in a pair of Instagram posts. One featured the rapper’s face photoshopped into a picture of someone shaking Trump’s hand. “THE DAY I MET TRUMP,” read the caption, along with the gobbledygook hashtag #trump202022020. In a since-deleted follow-up video, the Harvard Dropout rapper made clear his stance was based on the same misleading tax numbers 50 Cent used in his own endorsement of the c...

Mike Patton on Reuniting Mr. Bungle, Navigating the Pandemic, and More

Mr. Bungle (Mike Patton center), photo by Eric Larsen Prior to the pandemic, Mike Patton had countless irons in the musical fire. While his touring plans came to a standstill, the singer has soldiered on with his many creative endeavors. One of those projects is the first album in 21 years from his reunited band Mr. Bungle. Mr. Bungle reunited earlier this year for a handful of shows in February, featuring a lineup that included original members Patton, Trey Spruance, and Trevor Dunn, along with thrash titans Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies) and Scott Ian (Anthrax). In addition to the concerts, news came that the same lineup would re-record Mr. Bungle’s 1986 demo The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny. The re-recording, due October 30th, features the songs from original trackli...

Whoa, Nelly! Turns 20: How Nelly Furtado Took Flight

By Alex Gonzalez Twenty years ago, a 21-year-old singer from Canada stepped onto the scene with her debut single, “I’m Like a Bird.” At the time of its release, Nelly Furtado didn’t know the song would be a big radio hit. Her folky, coffee house style and sound was different from that of the Britneys and the Christinas of the time, but she knew “I’m Like a Bird” was something special. “I’m Like a Bird” led Furtado’s debut album, Whoa, Nelly!, released October 24, 2000. Like the majority of the album, it was produced by songwriting pair Brian West and Gerald Eaton of Canadian band The Philosopher Kings. When Furtado first wrote the song, Eaton and West weren’t sure if it would fit in with the rest of the record. “She just had it on guitar, and it was sort of a simple, folky song,” Eaton tel...
