Heart’s Nancy Wilson Announces Debut Solo Album
Some 45 years into her legendary career, Nancy Wilson is finally going at it solo. The Heart co-founder has announced the release of her debut solo album, which is due out in early 2021 through Carry On Music. The first single, a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising”, is set to arrive on October 23rd. Wilson began writing the album after the pandemic derailed Heart’s 2020 touring plans. “There have been so many times I was asked about when I would ever put out a solo album,” she explained in a statement. “Well, the time is now. Back at the beginning of the pandemic, guitar manufacturer Fender kicked off a promotion that offered guitar, bass, and ukulele players three months of free lessons on their Fender Play app. The giveaway was initially supposed to run for six three, but it was such a huge hit that the company is extending it through the end of 2020. “When quarantine began, we invited the world to make some noise with free access to Fender Play. Iron Maiden’s “Legacy of the Beast Tour” was an epic occasion. And like most of the band’s high profile tours, it will be immortalized as a live album, with the band announcing Nights of the Dead, Legacy of the Beast: Live in Mexico, which arrives November 20th. The album was culled from Iron Maiden’s three sold-out arena shows in Mexico City in September 2019, during the heart of the band’s lengthy “Legacy of the Beast” trek. Clocking in at over 100 minutes, the tracklist encompasses the band’s setlist from the tour and is a perfect way to relive the experience.
