While the world is tearing down monuments of problematic historical figures, the grooviest statue in music has just been erected. Prince’s iconic Love Symbol now stands proudly at Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota, home of the late singer’s studio and estate. A tribute to the late funk legend, the Love Symbol statue is 11 feet tall and 6 feet wide, and is decked out in Prince’s signature purple hue, as fans would expect. It’s positioned at the entrance to Paisley Park, where fans can take photos and pay their respects for free before paying admission to the compound. A plaque at the base of the statue features lyrics from the 1985 song “Paisley Park” and reads: “For love is the color/ This place imparts (Paisley Park)/ Admission is easy, just say you/ Believe and come to this/ Place in...

As Billie explains, “we wrote this at the very beginning of quarantine. it’s a song that’s really really personal and special to me. when we wrote this song, it was exactly where my head was at – hopeful, excited and a craaaazy amount of self reflection and self growth. but recently it has also taken on a lot of new meaning in the context of what’s happening in the world now. i hope you can all find meaning in it for yourselves.” Today’s offering marks her first new music since “No Time to Die”, her Ja...
Chris Cornell’s daughters are doing an admirable job preserving their father’s legacy. His eldest, Lily, recently launched an IGTV series focusing on mental health. Meanwhile, his younger daughter, Toni, is following in her father’s footsteps by pursing a career in music. In addition to releasing her own original material, 15-year-old Toni has also made a point to cover some old grunge classics. We previously saw her perform Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike” as part of a COVID-19 benefit concert. And earlier this evening, to kick off Lollapalooza’s Lolla2020 livestream, Toni sang Pearl Jam’s “Black” as a tribute to her late father. Watch the replay below (via Rolling Stone). As quarantine has continued, Kehlani has made a habit out of creating vibey, interior, dazzling visuals to complement her new album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t. Her latest, for standout album cut “Can I,” might be her best yet. In the dynamic new clip directed by the artist herself and Sebastian Sdaigui, Kehlani watches a series of cam shows, some of them as charmingly homemade as it gets. The mood is certainly horny, which matches the song itself (Call me over ’cause I go hard / Sweet lil’ bih, fuck like a porn star,” Kehlani intones), yet even in the dark of desire (or perhaps especially there), the clip is a celebration of sex workers. Kehlan is just an observer here, and the performers are the real stars. She made sure to shout them out in a note on ...

Earlier this summer, the three members of Boston rock group Krill reunited under the moniker Knot and announced their debut self-titled album. Now, they’re back with another new single from that record called “The World”. With guitarist Joe DeManuelle-Hall now joining them in the band, vocalist and guitarist Jonah Furman, guitar and bass player Aaron Ratoff, and drummer Ian Becker sound fuller than ever as they pry into political indie rock. That much was evident on their lead single “Foam”, and it stays true on the newest track, too. Over trickling guitar melodies that diverge and rejoin with one another, Knot spend the runtime of this math rock number contemplating anti-escapism and fighting for a better planet, way of life, and ideal community. “‘The World’ is supposed to be about the e...
