Vince Staples to Star in Kenya Barris-Produced Netflix Comedy The Vince Staples Show

Vince Staples will headline a new Netflix comedy, executive produced by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, titled The Vince Staples Show. The project is still in development and does not have a release date yet. The Vince Staples Show will be a scripted series set in Staples’ hometown of North Long Beach, California, and is loosely inspired by events in his life. Though it’s not clear which period of his career the show will focus on, the unvarnished coming-of-age tale recounted on his cinematic debut album, Summertime ’06, would make for great source material to start. In a statement, Staples shared, “I am excited to partner with Netflix and Kenya Barris on The Vince Staples Show. This has been something I have been developing for some time and I am happy it’s coming to fruition.” The rapper...

He was 75 years old when he passed, and many in and out of the crypto space quickly developed conspiracy theories around his detainment and death. In a Netflix documentary on McAfee’s life and death released on Wednesday titled Running with the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee, ex-girlfriend named Samantha Herrera claimed to have received a phone call from the computer p...

HHW Gaming: Netflix Cancels ‘Resident Evil’ Series After 1 Season

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: COURTESY OF NETFLIX / Resident Evil Welp, that was fast. After one season, Netflix has decided that its once-promising Resident Evil series does not deserve a second season. Deadline exclusively reports that Netflix is doing its usual by canceling a show just after one season. The latest victim is the Resident Evil series which puts a fresh spin on the popular survival horror video game franchise. Related Stories The news of the show’s demise comes just months after its July 14 release and, according to the website, isn’t surprising due to how the show performed on the streaming service. The show faired poorly on Netflix’s Top 10 and was expensive to produce. Two factors against it, combined with a poor critical response, made Netflix’s decision easy to m...

Neil Gaiman Reveals He Killed a Sandman Movie by Leaking the “Really Stupid” Script

Before Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman became a certified smash on Netflix, there were multiple efforts to adapt the comic series into a movie. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the author revealed that he squashed one of those early attempts by leaking what he dubbed “the worst script I’ve ever been sent.” The story comes from the late-’90s, after director Roger Avary (The Rules of Attraction) had been fired from a Sandman movie for wanting to use stop-motion animation for scenes taking place in The Dreaming. By 1998, William Farmer (Jonah Hex) was onboard to write a new draft of the script under the guidance of producer Jon Peters. Rumors had it that the story was being turned into something of an action movie, with massive changes to Gaiman’s original tale bungling up the magic. “I haven...

Directed by Anna Foerster from a screenplay by Maggie Cohn and Jack Stanley, Lou follows Janney and Smollett through the rainy wilderness as they hunt for Smollett’s child. It’s just so embarrassing, my taste in music, I rarely reveal it,” the Stranger Things star confessed in a virtual appearance on E! News’ Nightly Pop. “My sort of college years were the early ’90s. So that’s really where music really became very important, was like sitting around in the dorm room, you know, jamming out to Counting Crows and Stone Temple Pilots.” Because of that influence, Harbour only had one answer: “‘Mr. Jones’ by Counting Crows I’m sure would bring me back. Bring me back to college!” Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news The actor, who plays Jim Hopper on the popular Netflix sc...

Not that this is much of a surprise, but Wednesday (Ortega) has had a hard time making friends at her run-of-the-mill public high school.
