Chase & Status Announce 6th Album, Release Drum & Bass Single “Mixed Emotions”

If you were lucky enough to attend a random rave thrown by Chase & Status‘ in late 2021, you might just be featured on the cover of their upcoming album. The legendary U.K. duo’s new album, What Came Before, appears to be borne out of a desire to capture the essence of rave energy and emotion in its rawest forms. Back in November, they hosted a rave in order to capture an image for the record’s cover, deciding to ban cellphones at the event.  “We wanted to create an image that captured the very human compulsion to gather in a dark room and dance and sweat,” Chase & Status said in a press release shared with EDM.com by Casablanca Records. “Such scenes have a different weight to them after they were off the table for a...

On New “DREAM SOUP” Album, Mindchatter Muses on the Inevitability of “Cosmic Slush”

From the very first notes of his sophomore album, DREAM SOUP, Mindchatter evokes an uneasy thematic contrast between the ego and the corporeal, identity and perception. “I forgot who I was. I wish that that would last, but now I’m back,” he croons over luscious bass beats on DREAM SOUP‘s opening track, “Human Shape.” A sample of a person’s heavy breathing lays beneath these lyrics, seemingly bracing themselves for what’s to come: “My skin is really clay. I mold myself to human shape for practicality,” Mindchatter moodily muses.  It’s been just three years since Mindchatter released his debut single, “Trippy.” Now, with DREAM SOUP, out via Mind of a Genius, we see him all grown up, gently probing th...

The Chainsmokers Reveal Tracklist, Release Date, Story Behind New Album, “So Far So Good”

The Chainsmokers‘ fourth album is officially on the map. Titled So Far So Good, the LP is The Chainsmokers’ first since 2019’s chart-topping World War Joy. The tandem shared an official album trailer today, wherein they reveal the inspiration behind the 13-track album as well as its release date of May 13th. According to The Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggart, the album’s name derives from a quote from La Haine, a French crime drama film released in 1995. They found optimism in a particular quote, which they believe encapsulates the album’s subject matter: “Heard about the guy who fell off a skyscraper? On his way down past each floor, he kept saying to reassure himself, ‘So far so good… so far so good… so far so good.’ How you...

Martin Garrix Announces Release Date of Debut Club Album, “Sentio”

Martin Garrix‘s return to touring has sparked inspiration for one of the artist’s biggest efforts yet, his debut club album, Sentio. Over the last two years, Garrix has released numerous massive pop collaborations alongside some of music’s biggest names including Bono & The Edge of U2, G-Eazy, and more. Garrix and Maejor additionally dropped the dynamic debut album under their AREA21 alias, Greatest Hits Vol. 1, late last year. During that time, Garrix was simultaneously taking a break from producing new club hits, especially as events were on hold with the onset of the pandemic. “The crazy thing is I’ve never released a Garrix album. During COVID I made zero club music because it felt weird to make festival music when the...

Grabbitz Showcases Innovative Production On Genre-Bending Third Album, “Time Isn’t Real”

After months of singles and tantalizing teasers, Grabbitz‘s hotly anticipated third album has finally arrived by way of Hopeless Records. Throughout each of the 12 tracks, the Buffalo-born artist effortlessly weaves between unpredictable soundscapes. Gritty, gut-wrenching guitar riffs can suddenly be swooped up by dreamy moments, ultimately adding to the mystique of the record. Honey Dijon May Have Catalyzed a “Beyoncé House Music Era”

“Yes, the music is coming!” promised Beyoncé in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar last year. Now, rumors are swirling that some of that music was produced by house music producer Honey Dijon.  This is all according to a tweet from Gregory Ellwood, a music journalist known for being, well, in the know about all things Queen Bey. Two of the tracks off her upcoming album, B7, were purportedly produced by Dijon.   While neither of the artists have publicly responded to these whispers, it’s no secret that these two icons are friends. Last year, for example, Dijon sent Beyoncé “kisses from Berlin” in a “Happy Birthday Beyoncé!” video produced by Apple Music.  “No idea about the actual sound…but holding out ...
