Tiësto has teamed up with Black Eyed Peas to produce a modern-day club spin on the group’s ageless hit, “Pump It.” The track was in Tiësto’s regular club rotation over the summer before it officially hit streaming platforms today. He wastes no time and cuts right to the chase, reworking the 2006 hit into a fresh house anthem. “As a fan and supporter of will.i.am’s work and Black Eyed Peas, I couldn’t be more excited to collaborate directly with them on this project,” gushed Tiësto, who said his fans “go absolutely crazy” when he plays the track at clubs and festivals. There’s no mistaking Dick Dale’s’s instantly recognizable “Misirlou” 1962 surf sample, and it’s not long before Tiësto builds the arrangement before an energizi...

After signing to Monstercat just last month, Filipino electronic music star No Mana has returned with his second single on the label, “Out of the Dark.” The tech-driven track takes us through a mystical, underground odyssey backed by a thumping bassline and ominous, distorted sound design. According to a press release, the tune itself was conceptualized from what No Mana believes angels would sound like. “When I was scrambling for visual assets for this song on my Gravity set, I ran into my GIFs of a skull, chains and biblically accurate angels, to which I thought, ‘If this track had an affinity for something it would be these animations,'” No Mana said in a statement. Coming off of his headlining Lost Lands B2B with Excision, Sullivan King has joined forces with the creator of one of this festival season’s biggest tracks. Two weeks after King and Ray Volpe took the stage at the prehistoric-themed bass music celebration, they’ve returned to keep the party going with a new metalcore record. Released on Monstercat, “The Dead March” fuses both of their distinct sounds to deliver a bone-crunching banger. Heavy-hitting metal drums and sirens introduce “The Dead March” before the arrangement cuts away to focus on King’s isolated guitar riffs. He then lets out a scream and turns the ignition. With a rallying cry, King and Volpe inject the track with screeching synths and roaring bass that build to a thund...
Two of the world’s most innovative producers are introducing a new generation to the sounds of rave music’s past. In the early days of summer, G Jones and EPROM joined forces for their Acid Disk 2 EP. Now, they’ve put their minds together to create Disk Doctors, a new collaborative mixtape. Featuring loads of distorted synths and ingenious samples, the tape weaves between genres in an ode to 90’s rave music. Spanning 18 tracks, it finds the tandem pulling music from the aforementioned EPs and including songs from Squarepusher, Nevermind, MPIA3 and more. It also features unreleased tunes, a number of which Jones confirmed will eventually...
You heard it here first: Whethan is the official shapeshifter—or soundshifter, rather—of dance music. And he’s now breaking away in more ways than one. Whethan’s latest single, “Fall Out Girl” (with Zai1k), is his first independent release in six years following a two-album stint with Atlantic Records. “Fall Out Girl” is an uplifting callback to the sounds of this dance music prodigy’s past, from the playful sonics and youthful enthusiasm of his debut album, Fantasy, to the moodier, too-cool-for-school edge of its hip hop follow-up, MIDNIGHT. Anthemic lyrics rasp above pumping house synths and a propulsive bass line while Zai1k’s heady vocals send us along at a breakneck pace. It’s an electronic song at its hea...
