Audien Unveils Nostalgic Progressive House Anthem, “Drifting Away”

There’s one flag that Audien isn’t afraid to let fly, and it’s his love of progressive house.  So goes the artist’s latest, “Drifting Away” (with Joe Jury), a scene-setting anthem that captures the otherworldly magic of its title. Featuring a sprinkling of keys and lush synths, the track finds Jury’s voice floating like velvet above a celestial soundscape before it elevates into its heart-pumping drop. Altogether, “Drifting Away” is as nostalgic as it is invigorating.  “That’s the magic of progressive house: it’s timeless,” Audien tells EDM.com. “And I think ‘Drifting Away’ encapsulates that. Alison Wonderland Steps Into the Dark Side With Woozy Whyte Fang Track, “333”

Alison Wonderland continues her journey into the abyss with “333,” a brand new track released under the guise of her Whyte Fang alias.  For over a decade, Wonderland has nurtured a secretive side project that explores the darker side of electronic music. Producing as Whyte Fang, she creates woozy, heavy-hitting sounds that might not necessarily fit under the Alison Wonderland umbrella.  Opening up with eerie, distorted vocals, “333” sets an ominous tone early on. After a tense, metallic build-up, Fang introduces a wobbly bass drop with saturated kicks and frenetic vocal chops. She then blasts into the realm of techno, bringing the arrangement home with a pounding four-on-the-floor section. All in all, the entire experience is delightfully di...

Created around the same time as his seventh studio album, the remarkable Fragments, “ATK” possesses a more upbeat, dancefloor-ready sound than that found in the introspective album. Born in 1940 in Toase, Ghana, Manu released countless hits and became a world-renowned guitarist. Dillon Francis’ House Rework of Ciara’s “Goodies” Is a Rush of 2000’s Nostalgia

With a wildcard like Dillon Francis, you never know what you’re going to get. But you can rest assured that it’ll be compelling. This holds true for his “Goodies,” his new house anthem, which turns back the clock to 2004. Francis threw it back to the aughts and sampled Ciara‘s hit single of the same name, interpolating her ageless vocals into a short but sweet track. Dialing in a speedier tempo than the original, Francis transformed the whistling strains and synths we all know and love into a lively house melody. “Goodies” will appear on This Mixtape is Fire TOO, Francis’ highly anticipated follow-up to 2015’s This Mixtape is Fire. It’s the second single to be released following “Don’t Let Me Let Go,” a soaring futu...

While this year has seen a number of dubstep and house music records, including recent collabs with LSDREAM (“Funkonaut“), The Sponges’ (“Volume“) and TVBOO (“Bass Music“), this time around, GRiZ displays a more downtempo, melodic sound.
