Infected Mushroom Remake 1989 Classic “Black Velvet” With Glitchy Remix: Listen

Legendary Israeli psytrance duo Infected Mushroom have revealed the latest single from their forthcoming IM25 album, an electro-rock rendition of Alannah Myles’ 1989 classic, “Black Velvet.” With help from Israeli compatriot Ninet Tayeb, Infected Mushroom have transformed the former #1 hit into a glitchy, bass-driven remake with amplified guitar chords and sultry vocals. While the Grammy-winning record was written as an ode to Elvis Presley’s charm as the king of rock ‘n roll, Infected Mushroom’s version takes on a deeper meaning. As they celebrate their quarter-century legacy, “Black Velvet” is a byproduct of their versatility and early influences, reflective of their unconventional journey through time and sound. Now, the pioneering Italian DJ is celebrating the success of his debut single with a remake alongside none other than David Guetta. Jaw drop. The new version of the ageless track was among the most-played records at this year’s Tomorrowland festival, reinforcing Benassi’s 2002 original as one of EDM’s most prized generational anthems. Clocking in at two and a half minutes, the revamped “Satisfaction” finds Guetta infusing a future rave twist. TVBOO Taps GRiZ for Wonky Lead Single From Debut Album: Listen to “Bass Music”

Why aren’t DJs allowed to work at aquariums? Because they always drop the bass. Despite that awful dad joke, read on to discover the lead single from TVBOO‘s debut album, “Bass Music,” a heavy-hitting collaboration with GRiZ. “Bass Music” is a tongue-in-cheek dubstep banger replete with the wonky sound design of TVBOO, who has quickly emerged as one of the genre’s most jocular characters. GRiZ’s heady bass and fluttery arpeggios take over the verse before making way for the song’s drop, which features TVBOO’s signature saws and slithering bass patches. TVBOO said that working with GRiZ, who was named one of EDM.com‘s best music producers of 2021, was “one of the coolest things to happen” in his career. “...

Raves, Resilience and Rapture: How Ray Volpe Overcame His Lowest Moment to Produce a Game-Changing Record

They say success isn’t about luck, connections or even money. It’s the discipline to outwork everyone around you—a tenet which Ray Volpe has long been tethered to. The byproduct is Legend of the Volpetron, his new EP, out now by way of Disciple. The inventive record effectively pours gasoline on the broiling career of Volpe, who was named to EDM.com‘s Class of 2022 earlier this year. It’s a dazzling showcase of his generational production talents, which extend far beyond the confines of his breakout hit, “Laserbeam.” “It sounds cheesy, but it means everything to me! It’s a moment in time that I’ll look back on years from now,” Volpe tells EDM.com of his new EP. “I really wanted to mash everything I loved a...

Eliminate and XAELO Team Up for Emotive Single, “Nothing Left”

Eliminate‘s latest single teeters precariously on the brink of emotional ruin. “Nothing Left” sees the Class of 2021 star joining forces with XAELO for a brooding record that pairs his melodic trap sensibilities with heart-wrenching lyricism. “Losing you is like taking my last breath,” XAELO elegiacally sings amid a smooth trap flow from Eliminate. Though he’s typically one to let his robust and often frenetic sound design do the bulk of the talking, Eliminate instead opts to let the track’s soul-stirring lyrics take center stage while following up each verse with his signature synth work. Cruising into the song’s final act, Eliminate doses the vocal up with filters and vocoder-based effects, effectively harmonizing the poignan...
