Fans of Armin van Buuren have a lot to look forward to this year and beyond. The trance music icon has announced a three-part album series. Aptly titled Feel Again, the trilogy, van Buuren said, was created to reestablish the connection between his friends, family and fans that the pandemic had eroded. He also dropped the series’ titular single “Feel Again,” a stunning house track featuring Wrabel that will appear on Part 1, which will arrive this Friday, June 10th and will comprise 10 songs. The trilogy’s remaining two chapters are expected to be released in the fall of 2022 and the opening months of 2023 respectively, according to a press release issued by Armada. Dirtybird cofounder Mz Worthy has returned this summer with a new house anthem, “Feel It.” Corresponding with her first Pride Month performance in Los Angeles, the track dropped on June 3rd via Club Sweat. “Feel It” is a four-on-the-floor filler, overlaid with an infectious, singalong refrain that erupts into a dark and dirty drop. Twinkling arpeggios thrum above a shimmering synth soundscape before the arrangement’s punchy snares fire it off it into each of its two breaks. “I hope while you’re listening you can just let go of it all and be your true self,” Mz Worthy said in a press release. What So Not‘s sophomore album cycle is officially underway, and he isn’t hesitating to continue bucking convention. The Australian DJ and producer announced the long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s Not All The Beautiful Things LP is due to arrive this September. Titled Anomaly, the album, What So Not says, was a product of his travels immediately prior to the isolating onset of the pandemic. The writing process caused him to consider what we owe to our communities, our environment, and each other. The album’s lead single, “Mr Regular,” recruits two standout voices in Oliver Tree and Run The Jewels’ Killer Mike. Overlaying an elastic trap lead and plodding drums, the two share mirroring sentiments reflecting upon how their non-l...
Grammy-nominated house music tandem SIDEPIECE (Party Favor and Nitti Gritti) have joined forces with Repopulate Mars label boss Lee Foss for their first-ever collaboration. Out now via Insomniac Records, “1, 2 Step” is a surefire dancefloor filler that samples Ciara’s 2004 classic of the same name, which features Missy Elliott. SIDEPIECE and Foss previewed the track at EDC Las Vegas last month. And it goes without saying that it went off: Having collectively remixed the likes of Lana Del Rey, Rudimental, Calvin Harris and many more, SIDEPIECE and Foss are quite the team. They initially met last year, when the latter was impressed after the former rinsed an early demo of the record at Audiotistic San Diego. They then decided to rework “1, 2 Step...
One of the forefathers of tropical-inspired electronic music has returned with a bold new direction and the same feel-good energy. It’s a best-of-both-worlds scenario as longtime fans of Thomas Jack re-embrace the Australian producer following a four-year hiatus. Jack’s career certainly wasn’t one you’d up and leave behind without good reason. The pioneering “Rivers” producer is widely credited with having had a role in coining the term “tropical house” after a friend jokingly suggested he adopt the terminology based on how his music sounded. That’s because his music channeled the exotic sounds of summer across the world. Uplifting and carefree, Jack’s music was breezy, light and distinct in its employment of eclectic ...

Just weeks after the bombshell release of her collaboration with Flume and QUIET BISON, “ESCAPE,” KUČKA is back for more—this time with her first solo release of the year. And for KUČKA, this one has been years in the making. In fact, it wasn’t until several months ago that “Messed Up” was dusted off and completed after vexing the artist for years. The final “Messed Up” tantalizingly pairs an eerie, flute-like melody with KUČKA’s signature cosmic vocal tone, swirling amongst the colorful chaos of its synths. Masterfully it brings together U.K. garage and hyperpop, building on dreamy sound design and energized breaks to maximize the song’s disorienting, mesmeric effect. “I’m under a spell that’s hard to b...
Calvin Harris eagerly tried to warn us about Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2. Aside from calling it the “maddest album” he’s ever assembled, details were few and far between as to when we could expect to hear it, and who else would be included. That all changed last week, however, when Harris dropped a teaser of epic proportions, revealing the project’s lead single “Potion” alongside Dua Lipa and Young Thug. Harris and Lipa previously made magic in the studio with the alluring “One Kiss,” a track that has since gone on to amass over 1.3 billion streams while solidifying itself among the most successful tracks on Spotify of all-time. Incidentally, “One Kiss” was also released in 2017, the same year Harris debuted the wildly succ...
