Legendary bass music pioneer Rusko has returned with a new single on Elevate Records. Tracing back to the roots of the UK bass movement, the dubstep icon dials up the tempo for a roaring drum & bass single called “MAC 19.” Rusko’s latest retains all of the wubby splendor he’s so well known for, while trading in the dubstep sentimentality for the raw energy of the classic drum & bass anthems of auld. Kicking things off with a rather ravey introduction reminiscent of UK hardcore, Rusko employs a ragga vocal sample and snare drum buildup to ramp up the energy before the drop. In the main sections, a daunting hoover bass duels with the quintessential Rusko wobble bass as the drum breaks shuffle on. In his nod to the drum & bass explosion of the 90s, Ru...

The Wild Feathers are back. After releasing an odds-and-ends compilation last year, the quartet have a new album on the way. Titled Alvarado, the record is out on Oct. 8 through New West Records. Today, they’ve shared a foot-tappin’ new tune in the form of “Ain’t Lookin.” “We’ve always written and demoed new songs in a cabin outside of town and then gone into the studio to record the album. This time, we decided to take the studio to the cabin and produce it ourselves,” Ricky Young said. “Ain’t Lookin” encapsulates all of The Wild Feathers country-rock charm, singing “Love is whatcha find when it ain’t what you’re looking for.” Listen to “Ain’t Lookin” below. The stars are aligning for a RÜFÜS DU SOL summer after the Australian trio, having just revealed an additional North American tour leg yesterday, are beginning to reveal what they’ve been keeping in their music stockpile. Here with their first original song since the 2018 Grammy-nominated Solace album, RÜFÜS DU SOL have returned with “Alive.” If this track is any indication of the trio’s forthcoming album, their penchant for lyrical storytelling with pristine technical quality is alive and well. On the production, the band created a brooding set of melodramatic, dreamy soundscapes to match and anchored it all down with a dynamically evolving, arpeggiated bassline. Check out “Alive” below. At its core, the haunting “Alive” embodies ...
Whether you know “Creep” from being a Radiohead fan or from all of the copyright controversies it has been involved in over the years, it is indisputably one of both the band’s and Thom Yorke’s most well-known works. Now, nearly 30 years after the song’s original release, Yorke has shared this remix of the tune. While it’s not entirely unrecognizable, it’s definitely different. Yorke changed the entire pace of the song; he slowed it down, used acoustic guitar instead of electric, and even incorporated some pitch-altering effects to the words so that it doesn’t conform to its original phrasing. Not to mention, what was once a four-minute song, now sits at just over nine minutes in this re-imagined version. He managed to make a nine-minute song not feel too drawn out though, as it has the ca...
Since the release of his debut album, 2011’s End of the World Party, GRiZ has apparently never taken a break. His dogged work ethic has clearly not relented after the announcement of his 7th album, which is due out later in the month of July. Titled Rainbow Brain, the record, GRiZ said, pays homage to the bass music icons before him. This means that it will likely stray from the more tame sound of his most recent album, Ride Waves, and will display some of his fan-favorite bass front and center. GRiZ took to Twitter to share previews of a few Rainbow Brain cuts, including a mind-bending collaborative track with fellow dubstep star Jantsen called “Burn Up The Floor.” GRiZ recently dropped the first single from the album, the titular “Rai...
Making his debut back in 2018, anonymous electronic music producer CloudNone has been poised for a long and successful career in dance music, consistently releasing on some of the scene’s most prestigious labels. CloudNone’s music is as uplifting as it is pensive. Following a landmark performance at ILLENIUM’s recent “Trilogy” show in Las Vegas, he has now unveiled his brand new EP Last Train Home, which undoubtedly marks a testament to his versatility as an artist. Including previously-released singles such as the ethereal instrumental gem “Dizzy Lifted” and the anthemic, bass-driven “Flashlight” (with acclaimed singer-songwriter Micah Martin) each song from Last Train Home seems to impress with its own distinct sound d...
Earlier this year, Australian triple-threat DJ, producer, and songwriter Ninajirachi released her stunning True North album in collaboration with Kota Banks. The release only bolstered her impressive catalog, bringing with it stellar cuts like “Middle Of The Night,” “Secretive!,” and “Opus.” Ninajirachi has now returned with a scorching new double-single that serves as the perfect summertime heater. “Dracodraco” is the titular track and “Stoneteller” is its wonderful B-side. The former opens with a subdued reese bass layered under a beautiful arpeggio, as the vocals ring out an enchanting melody. At the drop, percussion takes center stage in a trappy main section packed with energy and an attention to detail th...
Renowned dance music producer and label head Peggy Gou is officially back in the game. Just last month she ended a two-year hiatus from solo releases and her latest, “I Go,” proves she’s just heating up. Inspired by the UK rave culture of the early aughts, the song is out July 9th via Gou’s Gudu Records imprint. You can pre-order the record on vinyl here. “I Go” is a scintillating blend of house and techno, with elements of disco and synthwave folded in along the way. Bright chimes, brisk percussion and a pulsing bassline make up its groove. Meanwhile, Gou’s breathy vocals maintain the momentum, adding texture and tension to its minimalistic soundscape. According to a statement from Gou, the song originated in an airport bathr...
