Quicksand Announce New Album Distant Populations, Unveil New Song and Headlining Tour

New York post-hardcore outfit Quicksand will release their fourth studio LP Distant Populations on Aug. 13, with a vinyl release arriving on Sept. 24. As most artists are wont to do, they also shared a new track in tandem with the new album’s announcement, called “Missile Command,” along with a music video. The song was born out of a rehearsal jam; In a statement, frontman/guitarist Walter Schreifels says “It really kind of focuses on (bassist) Sergio’s whole motif in a very simple way. He and (drummer) Alan just have this really kind of trademark groove, and I think that really sings on this one to me.” Check it out below. Colleen Green is back with her first album in six years. Titled Cool, it’s out Sept. 10 on Hardly Art and serves as the follow-up to 2015’s I Want To Grow Up. In conjunction with the announcement of her new album, Green also released the single “I Wanna Be a Dog” with an accompanying music video. For those crossing their fingers for an Iggy Pop reference in this one, I regret to inform you that there are none. Check out the video below. [embedded content] Cool was produced by Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor) and was recorded across three locations in Los Angeles, then ...

Michael Roman has recently begun his career in electronic music production, having released his first official song just last year. Nevertheless, Roman has attracted a loyal following in a short amount of time due to his high-energy productions. For his latest release, titled “Pushing Me Back,” Roman and his team reached out to a vocalist they had been eager to work with. According to a press release, the anonymous singer arrived at the studio and “hooked [Roman] almost immediately and without re-recordings.”  The acapella inspired Roman, who then had a vision which was embodied soon after in soundtracks. Integrating the sensual vocals with his electronic production style, he seamlessly executed his new single. “I have b...

Tyler, The Creator Drops New Song and Video, ‘WUSYANAME’

Tyler, the Creator is a chameleonic artist, reinventing himself with a new persona that embodies each album’s particular aesthetic. For the newest identity on his upcoming album, Call Me If You Get Lost, Tyler adopts the surname Baudelaire, likely either after the 19th century French poet of the same name or the Baudelaire family from Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. The name appears on the fictional ID on the album cover and is the only text in his Twitter bio, though we can’t know for sure his intentions until the album comes out. With the announcement of his new album came a teaser video and its first single “LUMBERJACK,” and he’s been teasing other snippets and art on his social media to heighten the anticipation. Today, he dropped “WUSYANAME,” another single with an ac...

The video, on the other hand, is simple, but lighthearted as it features nothing more than Saint Punk showing off his ...

Now in the thick of a new sonic era, Louis The Child has teamed up with Goth Babe for an infectiously sunny single that blends surf rock, garage rock and electronica. Out June 18th, “Encinitas” sees the duo drift from the pop-infused themes of their debut album, Here For Now, and enter a chapter with roots in the big, bouncy energy of early 2010s dance music. Even more, it sees the artists listed as a featured contributor—a rarity in their career—speaking to the in-demand influence of their sound.  Primed for a summer road trip on California’s Pacific Coast Highway, “Encinitas” moves seamlessly between bubbly synth lines, grungy interplays of bass and percussion, and Goth Babe’s dreamy vocals. It’s packed with personality, pulling at once...
