Rich DietZ Drop Hypnotic House Banger, “Anxiety”: Listen

Surging electronic music duo Rich DietZ are back with their latest single, the brooding house banger “Anxiety.” Known for their fun, tongue-in-cheek approach to production, the guys have gone a different route this time around. Eschewing their use of party-starting, frenetic sound design and pop culture references, Rich DietZ have delivered a timely statement about mental health through a riveting house tune. However, don’t think the switch-up doesn’t make “Anxiety” any less heavy-hitting than its raucous predecessors. The track contains all the bells and whistles of a Rich DietZ heater, highlighted by a stunning vocal that eerily slithers through deep 808s. The arrangement is in half-time here, making for a hypnotic, trap-inspired doozy of a v...

The Black Keys Cover R.L. Burnside’s ‘Going Down South’

The Black Keys have shared their second offering off Delta Kream, and it’s one of Dan Auerbach’s favorite tracks on the album. The duo put their own spin on one of R.L. Burnside’s best-known songs, 1969’s “Going Down South.” “That was one of R.L. Burnside’s hits!” Auerbach said in a statement. “We strayed a little from the original on our version with the falsetto and percussion, but we liked how it sounded in that moment. It’s become one of my favorites on the album.” Like the video for the album’s lead single “Crawling Kingsnake,” “Going Down South” was filmed at Jimmy Duck Holmes’ Blue Front Café, which is the oldest active juke joint in America. It also highlights other northern Mississippi blues landmarks like Junior Kimbrough’s hometown of Blues Alley in Holly Springs and&n...

Kayzo Reworks ILLENIUM and iann dior’s “First Time” Into Rock-Infused Anthem

Kayzo has been on a tear in 2021. The Houston-born producer recently released his collaboration with Sullivan King and Papa Roach, “DOMINATION,” as well as “Never Let You Down” with TELLE and “Lifeline” with Black Tiger Sex Machine. Today, he returns with a remix of ILLENIUM and iann dior‘s “First Time.” Kayzo’s rework of “First Time” reimagines the love ballad by embracing his signature rock-electronic crossover sound. Forgoing the piano of the original, Kayzo has opted for a subtle guitar in the intro. As the track builds to the drop, listeners are hit with a more intense guitar riff all accompanied by dior’s emotive vocals. The second drop adds a layer of heavy, distorted synths, drastically increasing th...

Black Tiger Sex Machine Tap JT Roach for Anthemic Single “Creature”

In January, Black Tiger Sex Machine teamed up with Kazyo and Point North for their monster single “Lifeline.” Adding to their impressive list of massive collaborations, the Canadian trio has tapped JT Roach for “Creature” out via Kannibalen Records.  Although “Creature” is a slight departure from the relentlessness of their recent releases, the tune still showcases BTSM’s heavy-hitting sound while simultaneously giving JT Roach’s immaculate vocals a spotlight. His signature tenor croons lyrics about animosity, with that message being empowered by dynamic, winding basses and the occasional fluttery synth.  The anthemic nature of “Creature” makes it a live set staple. Expect the track to be a centerpiece of BTSM&...

Vindata is currently gearing up for their highly anticipated debut album With Opened Eyes. They are now here to unveil the next piece of the puzzle and it comes in collaboration with Kaydence, Ariana Grande and Beyoncé’s songwriter. “One Time” arrives today via Monstercat.  The new single encompasses the rush of emotion felt when falling in love. The vocals and melodies convey this theme of hesitancy with a slow yet steady tempo and open into a playful, more hopeful tone as the chorus enters. It’s the balance of excitement and fear that comes from being vulnerable and in love, and Vindata and Kaydence tightrope this line expertly with raw emotion.  “We collaborated with Kaydence, Tyler Rohn, and Dave Cappa on this record. Early on, we knew that this s...

After kickstarting the Never Say Die: Black Label sister imprint with his Consciousness EP in 2015 and closing that imprint’s chapter out with his single “Sick Head,” bass music heavyweight Trampa has already built an impressive career over the last decade. Now, Trampa’s debut album has arrived on the newly reformed Never Say Die, and it is undoubtedly the producer’s best work yet. Trampa’s first full-length, Disrespect, is full of the riddim-tinged sounds listeners have come to know and love from the musician, but the album expands far beyond genre expectations and into tracks that draw influence from jungle, drum & bass, UK garage, drill, and even breakbeat.  Previously released singles “Sick Head,” “Your Luv,” and the ...
