Liam Gallagher’s son, Ringo Starr’s grandson, and model Noah Ponte are headed to trial next year after being charged with racially aggravated assault, affray, and theft. The inciting incident occurred back in May 2019 when Gene Gallagher and Sonny Stark, who were 17 years old at the time, allegedly started a fight in a Tesco alongside Ponte. Late one night inside a Tesco Express in Hampstead, North London, the three teenagers were described as “windmilling” down an aisle when one of the shopkeepers tried to stop them exiting the store. Things got violent after Ponte was denied trying to buy beer after midnight — the store’s cut-off for alcohol purchases goes into effect at 11:00 p.m. — and threatened to act out. Shame Announce Remix EP Born in Luton & 2022 North American Tour Dates
Shame rang in 2021 with the release of their latest album, Drunk Tank Pink, and they’re not wasting any time now that touring is back in the cards. The group has unveiled a 2022 North American tour to complement their previously-announced UK and European treks. What’s more, the South London punks have announced a remix EP featuring reworkings of the Drunk Tank Pink track “Born in Luton.” The full Born in Luton EP is coming out July 23rd, and as a preview, the band has shared the version remixed by Parquet Courts’ Austin Brown. James Wan has established himself as a king of horror after creating both The Conjuring and Saw universes. Now, he’s ready to stake out new territory with his upcoming horror film Malignant. Over a year after announcing that it was in the works, Kanye West will (finally) be releasing Donda this Friday, July 23. Rival Sons Announce 2021 North American Tour with Dorothy
Like many bands that have been off the road for the past year and a half due to the pandemic, Rival Sons are more than ready to get back on tour. The California rockers have booked a fall North American run in honor of the 10th anniversary of their 2011 album, Pressure and Time. The outing, dubbed the “Pressure and Time Tour,” will feature support from by Dorothy on most dates, with Reignwolf and Myron Elkins at select gigs. The tour kicks off September 29th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and continues through a November 13th date in Anaheim, California. Taylor Swift Withdraws Re-Recorded Fearless from Grammy, CMA Awards Contention
Taylor Swift won’t have to compete with herself at the Grammys or CMA Awards this year, as she’s decided to pull Fearless (Taylor’s Version) from contention. A representative for Republic Records confirmed to Billboard that the re-recording of Swift’s 2008 sophomore record won’t be submitted “in any category at this year’s upcoming Grammy and CMA Awards.” As the statement went on to note, “Fearless has already won four Grammys including album of the year, as well as the CMA Award for album of the year in 2009/2010 and remains the most awarded country album of all time.” It’s certainly fair of Swift not to try and repeat her wins with essentially the same songs. Kanye West confirmed the impending release of his new album, Donda, in a Beats by Dre commercial aired during Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The album, Kanye’s 10th solo LP to date, will arrive this Friday, July 23rd. The accompanying ad features American track and field sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, who recently became infamous after she was banned from Olympic competition after testing positive for marijuana use. While it’s great to see Richardson getting paid after such a ridiculously outdated rebuff, the exciting part of the commercial is obviously the new Kanye music that soundtracks it.
