On Thursday, Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn pretended that Taylor Swift supports a nightmarish version of socialism in which women are stripped of their rights, then implied that the pop star is an idiot because Swift herself is a woman, and therefore “would be the first victim” of this imaginary government. Blackburn burped up this overheated word gumbo in a conversation with Breitbart News. The senior Senator from Tennessee was in the middle of warning viewers that if Democrats are elected, their beloved country music would forever be changed to “woke.” “When you talk about country music, and I know the left is all out now and trying to change country music and make it woke,” she said. “When I’m talking to my friends who are musicians and entertainers, I say, ‘If we have a socialist...

The latest Chaffee County Public Health Order limits outdoor events to 2,000 people. Seven Peaks regularly hosts 5,000 fans. The Chaffee County Board of Health re-evaluates the capacity limitations on a monthly basis, which means the health order could be amended between now and the festival’s launch in September. “It cannot be overstated how much time, thought, effort and energy has gone into gearing up for the festival this year. I want to thank my team for their work, the artists for their trust, and above all our fans, who look forward to this event all year long,” Bentley’s statement continued. Billboard reached out to representatives from Seven Peaks and Bentley but have not heard back as of publication. Seven Peaks’ cancellation closely...
Ed Sheeran feat. Beyoncé, “Perfect Duet” The song’s title is an understatement of its performance. Sheeran and Queen Bey’s raw vocals mixed together on top of an acoustic guitar are the three simple ingredients to this sweeping romantic ballad. Their tender harmony for the last round of the chorus is exactly what a couple during the first dance of their wedding needs to hear. “Perfect” climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the strength of the Beyoncé remix in December 2017. Taylor Swift feat. Ed Sheeran, “Everything Has Changed” Swift and Sheeran are dusting off their “Everything Has Changed” duet and re-recording it for Red (Taylor’s Version), but we just hope it opens up the doors to more (new) hits betwee...
This time last year, Margo Price released the great That’s How Rumors Get Started. So, what better way to celebrate the year anniversary of her album than to release a new EP? That’s exactly what the singer-songwriter is planning on doing. Titled Live From the Other Side, the collection is out next Friday, July 16. It will include a new version of “Hey Child,” which features guest vocalists Adia Victoria, Allison Russell, Kam Franklin and Kyshona Armstrong. Price and company performed the new version (in a prerecorded fashion) on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, which you can watch below. [embedded content] In addition to “Hey Child,” other songs on the EP include a cover the Beatles’ “Help,” which also features the four vocalists and a solo version of “That’s How Rumors Get Starte...
Not too long ago, details were revealed of a massive box set for George Harrison’s classic solo debut album All Things Must Pass. The first song from that set has been released, and it’s a good one. For the first time, you can hear “Cosmic Empire,” and the story behind the song is almost as good as the song itself. According to a release, when Harrison commenced work on what would be All Things Must Pass, Harrison cooked up a whole batch of songs in the first two days, including a bunch that were unreleased. “Cosmic Empire” was one of the songs from the second day (May 27, 1970). The tune was cut with former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr on drums, bassist Klaus Voormann and Phil Spector producing. The other songs that didn’t make the cut on All Things Must Pass include “Going Down To G...
The xx broke out with indie rock so sparse it sounded black and white, but their last album I See You (2017) introduced bright neon techniques cribbed from hip-hop and EDM. Now, co-founder Romy has combined the approaches with “You’re Not Alone in the Rhythm of the Night,” a simple acoustic performance that remixes two songs together. Built from parts of Olive’s “You’re Not Alone” and Corona’s “The Rhythm of the Night,” Romy’s new cover is a stirring statement to those feeling lost and afraid. She recorded the track for Apple Music’s Home Session for Pride, and in a press release she said she chose these tunes because they remind her of “when I was about 17 and started going to Gay bars in London.” She explained, “I’ve combined two songs into this cover, Olive – ‘You’re Not Alone...
