Lana Del Rey fans are going to have to find another soundtrack for their 4th of July festivities this year. After revealing that her upcoming album, Blue Banisters, was slated for a July 4 release, the singer-songwriter took to Instagram on Saturday night to break the news that it’s now “TBD.” But it wasn’t all bad news. Del Rey let fans down easy by also unveiling the album’s cover art: a photo of her in a yellow dress, sitting barefoot on a deck alongside her two German Shepherds Tex and Mex. She also teased a new single off the album in a separate post. “Album out later later… Single out soonish. Toyah and Robert Fripp Cover System of a Down’s “Chop Suey”: Watch

Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp take on one of the great 21st century metal tunes in their latest “Sunday Lunch” performance. The married couple, along with the mysterious Sidney Jake, rock the System of a Down classic “Chop Suey” from their kitchen. Looking like characters in a Mad Max movie, Toyah and Robert go full throttle in covering “Chop Suey,” the lead single from System of a Down’s Toxicity (which celebrates its 20th anniversary in September). King Crimson founder Fripp has completed a full transformation from the conservative suit vest and tie he would wear at the beginning of the “Sunday Lunch” series, now donning a mohawk and theatrical eye makeup, as well as body art similar to what SOAD guitarist Daron Malakian sported in the official “Chop Suey” music video. Courtney Love Covers Britney Spears’ “Lucky”: Watch

Courtney Love recently launched a cover song series called Bruises of Love, in which she performs a selection of her songs that allowed her to “finally feel like myself again” after years of health issues. After kicking off the series last month by covering “California Stars”, the folk-rock staple from Wilco and Billy Bragg’s joint 1998 album Mermaid Avenue featuring lyrics by the late Woody Guthrie, Love has now uploaded a rendition of Britney Spears’ “Lucky”. Watch below. As Love pointed out prior to her performance, the Max Martin-penned song from Spears’ 2000 album, Oops!… I Did It Again, is challenging to play due to some “funky” chords. The timing of the song’s release is likely not coincidental, as Love was interviewed for Ronan Farrow and Jia Tolentino for their newl...

H.E.R. Among Artists Educating Kids on Civics in Netflix Series ‘We the People’

H.E.R. took on the “Active Citizenship” episode, writing and performing the song “Change.” It deals with teaching young people to get involved with issues in the community by volunteering, writing letters to elected officials and peaceful protest. The animated segment was directed by Oscar-winner Peter Ramsey, known for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. H.E.R. admits the idea to make music and educate seemed daunting at first. “I was like thinking about all these topics and how can I make this, like, cool? And, you know, it just started off with just saying exactly what it is: ‘Wrote a letter to the mayor can you hear me out.’ Like how would we really have a conversation about this with somebody who doesn’t necessarily understand,” she said. That made the process fun, while at the same ti...
