Taylor Swift Shows Off ‘Renegade’ Photo by Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds’ Daughter James

In Reynolds’ snapshot, Swift stands amid a bright blue sky while wearing a white patterned dress and holding a small colorful cloth. The collage also features a publicity photo of Big Red Machine, along with images of water droplets and red roses. Lyrics from “Renegade” — “I tapped on the window on your darkest night” and “The shape of you” — also appear in the artwork. This isn’t the first time the trio has teamed up. Dessner co-wrote and co-produced the bulk of Swift’s blockbuster 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore, and Vernon was featured on and co-wrote Folklore‘s “Exile” and Evermore‘s title track. Jim Morrison Honored by Fans in Paris on 50th Anniversary of His Death

The 50-year-old fan made the trip from Halle, Germany with his childhood friend Mathias Barthel. The two had not been back to the Pere-Lachaise cemetery in over 25 years. Year after year, the place has become a pilgrimage for fans of Morrison, known for his dark lyrics, wavy locks, leather pants, steely gaze and theatrical stage presence. He propelled The Doors to several major hits between 1965 and 1967, including “Light My Fire,” “Hello I Love You,” “Touch Me” and “Riders on the Storm.” Michelle Campbell was 21 when Morrison died in 1971, living in Texas and studying photography. Her first “July 3rd” — the anniversary of Morrison’s death — was in 1989. Back then, the grave was unmarked and a fan had crafted a wooden cross. She’s since moved to Paris and has been coming to Per...

Dave Grohl Says He Lifted Drumming Techniques From Early Disco Pioneers During Nirvana Years

Foo Fighters surprised the music world last week after revealing they were working on covering several Bee Gees hits under a new disco alias they’re calling the Dee Gees. As the dust continues to settle, frontman Dave Grohl—who spent four years as the drummer for legendary rock band Nirvana—has added some additional context to the forthcoming music, revealing that he derived inspiration from disco since the early days of his career. As NME notes, Grohl’s illuminating comments came in a new interview with Pharrell Williams. “I can’t read music. I couldn’t then, and I still can’t now. All I wanted to do was be in a line of drummers all playing drums,” Grohl said. “If you listen to Nevermind, the Nirvana record, I pulled so much stuff from The Gap Band, and ...

Grimes Reveals Head-Scratching Album Concept About Interstellar A.I. Romance

Grimes‘ concept for her next album is enough to make your head spin. Back in March, the Canadian electro-pop songstress announced she had been signed to Columbia Records, making an ambiguous mention of a forthcoming “Phase 2” project at the time. Well, it now seems we have some clarity about what she’s been cooking up—but also lots of new questions. We won’t bury the lede on this one, and will let Grimes speak for herself.  “It’s a space opera about Claire De Lune, an artificial courtesan who was implanted in a simulation that is a memory of the A.I. creation story on Earth from the brain of the engineer who invented A.I. because he wants to relive his life but see if his perfect dream girl could team him to love thereby he would preserve humanity this ti...

Cop Plays Taylor Swift While Confronting Protestors So Video of Conflict Will Get Pulled for Copyright Infringement

During a July 1st protest at the Alameda County Courthouse, a cop played a Taylor Swift song on his phone so that footage of the conflict would get pulled from YouTube for copyright infringement. Via Gizmodo, Sheriff’s deputy David Shelby had been arguing with James Burch, the policy director for the Anti-Police Terror Project. Amid a disagreement about whether a banner constituted a “tripping hazard,” Shelby suddenly pulled out his phone and began playing Swift’s 2014 single “Blank Space.” “I don’t know why — are we having a dance party now?” Burch asked. Shelby said, “You can record all you want. I just know it can’t be posted on YouTube.” Related Video Shelby was relying on YouTube’s Content ID system, which scans videos against a database of copyrighted materials in orde...

Obscura Unleash New Song “Solaris” Ahead of Upcoming Album A Valediction: Stream

Obscura have shared the music video for “Solaris,” the lead single from the band’s upcoming album, A Valediction, out November 19th. The song is the first new music from Obscura since undergoing a major lineup change in April 2020 that saw three members exit the group. Two of the “new” members — bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling and lead guitarist Christian Münznerare — are familiar faces, as they have returned to Obscura after previous stints in the band. Safe to say, the personnel swap hasn’t encumbered the technical death metal band’s virtuosic assault. “Solaris” is a maximal crusher that begs for repeated listens in order to decipher its many twists and turns. Related Video “‘Solaris’ turned out to become one of the band’s shortest and utmost direct compositions featuring all trademarks, ...
