Before he set crowds alight with his arsenal of generational dance anthems, Fatboy Slim almost went a different route—extinguishing blazes as a firefighter. The venerated “Praise You” producer has revealed that he almost quit the music industry to pursue his dreams of becoming a fireman. According to the Darlington & Stockton Times, Slim, who spoke at a recent event for the Fire Fighters Charity, said he kicked the tires on a career pivot during times of financial strife. “I have been in the music business pretty much all my life but there have been ups and downs and there was one particular down where everyone around was like, ‘You are going to have to actually get a proper job now because you are skint.'” “I thought about what j...
Alex Lifeson stopped by SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk” earlier this week and made it clear a Rush reunion won’t be happening any time soon (via Blabbermouth). “I know Rush fans are a unique bunch, and I love them,” the rocker said after revealing he and Geddy Lee remain the best of pals. “It was a really good two-way relationship. But I think, really, Rush ended in 2015. There’s no way Rush will ever exist again because Neil’s not here to be a part of it. And that’s not to say that we can’t do other things and we can’t do things that benefit our communities and all of that. I have lots of plans for that sort of thing that don’t necessarily include Geddy.” Lifeson was referencing the passing of Rush drummer Neil Peart, who died in January 2020 at the age of 67 following a battle...
Back in 1996, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers put out their soundtrack album for Edward Burns’ film She’s the One. Now, fans are getting a special archival release of the record to celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. It’s officially titled Angel Dream (Songs and Music from the Motion Picture “She’s the One”) and it’s available to stream below via Apple Music and Spotify. Angel Dream spans 12 tracks in total and boasts remastered versions of each song. A lot of these renditions were pulled from the same recording sessions that brought about last year’s gorgeous Wildflowers & All the Rest box set, which was essentially a fan’s dream come true in terms of how great it sounded. The most exciting addition to Angel Dream, however, are the four previously unreleased songs...
“I have the power!” Netflix has unveiled the first full-length trailer for its upcoming animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation. The clip reintroduces fans to the world of Eternia, which is slowly losing its magic long after the events of the 1980s series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. “I built a life of truth, away from magic. Now you want me to save magic?” Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Teela, captain of Eternia’s royal guard, demands as she angrily tosses her tiara-like helmet to the ground. The answer to Teela’s query appears to be ‘yes,’ as she joins forces once again with Prince Adam (voiced by The Vampire Diaries’ Chris Wood) to protect their planet from Mark Hamill’s villainous Skeletor. “Whatever became of Eternia, we’ll face it. Together. No one else dies,” the pri...
Forget lions and tigers and bears, Grimes is offering lesbians and space and love, AI! The enigmatic pop star has shared an update about her next album, and she says it’s a “space opera” about two artificial intelligences that “fall into a lesbian romance.” Via AV Club, details about the follow-up to her 2020 album Miss Anthropocene come from a surprisingly lengthy comment on an Instagram post. After one person asked about the “vibez” on her next project, Grimes did not hold back. She wrote, “It’s a space opera about CLAIRE DE LUNE—an artificial courtesan who was implanted in a simulation that is a memory of the A.I. creation story on Earth from the brain of the engineer who invented A.I. because he wants to relive his life but see if his perfect dream girl could team him to...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Patricia Schlein/Star Max / Getty The OG Aunt Viv is showing more sense than Claire Huxtable nowadays. Actress Janet Hubert took to Twitter to slam the gleeful praise Phylicia Rashad heaped on Bill Cosby after the disgraced comedian was released on a technicality. By now you’ve surely heard, Cosby was release not because he’s innocent of drugging a woman and sexually assaulting her, which he admitted to in the past (and has been accused of by a legion of women), but because a suspect lawyer cut him a side deal. Phylicia Rashad couldn’t help herself and celebrated Cosby being sprung with a wild, and since deleted tweet. “FINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is being righted- a miscarriage of justice is corrected!” she tweeted along with a photo of the 83-yea...
Don Diablo is looking to leave his mark far beyond just his music. This fall, the famed Dutch dance music producer will score a new interactive theater production called Forever Young, written by Sjoerd van Schooten and Mabel Nummerdor. The central plot of the show focuses on a love story between a rising star and his childhood sweetheart. There will be an overall emphasis on mental health, as well as how fame and social media can have a negative impact on us and the world around us. “The story of Forever Young is very close to my heart,” Diablo gushed. “As an artist I’ve had years of experience with the lighter and darker sides of the modern age. We now live in a time where everything seems possible, but these endless possibilities also com...

In the fourth and final installment of her weeklong series in which she hangs out and performs music with Matt Helders, Nandi Bushell sat down with the Arctic Monkeys drummer to conduct the very first interview of her young career. Helders and the 11-year-old rock prodigy discussed poignant topics like their top five favorite bands, the hardest songs to perform, and a whole lot more (including Bushell using the opportunity to ask Helders if she could perform on the next Arctic Monkeys album) before turning it into an impromptu jam session. After watching the duo cover tracks like ‘R U Mine?’ and ‘Brainstorm’ over the last couple of days (and “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor” before that, it was nice to see them improvise and riff off of each other in their latest performance. Accordi...
Isaac Dunbar, “Celebrate” Sure, Pride Month may officially be done, but Isaac Dunbar isn’t satisfied with the party ending. On “Celebrate,” Dunbar distills the exaltation into a song, where the rising singer-songwriter declares that we ought to choose to celebrate each day, even if we don’t feel like we have much to celebrate. He certainly makes it easy to indulge with the track’s infectious ’80s-style synths, mixed with heart-pounding drums and his ethereal vocals, declaring over and over again, “Cеlebrate with me today, tomorrow, and yеsterday/ Celebrate all your pain to me.” “‘Celebrate’ is about waking up and choosing happiness every single day instead of getting stuck in your own negativity,” he said o...
