Bruce Springsteen and Paul Simon will be headlining New York City’s “homecoming concert” this summer in Central Park. Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the outdoor event, which is being booked by none other than Clive Davis, today during video press conference. Bessemer Trust has officially requested to discontinue its role as co-conservator over Britney Spears’ estate amidst the pop star’s ongoing fight to end the conservatorship that has governed her life for the last 13 years. The wealth management company, which was appointed to serve alongside the icon’s father Jamie Spears in the fall of 2020, filed the motion on July 1st citing “changed circumstances” surrounding the conservatorship, according to The New York Times. “As a result of the conservatee’s testimony at the June 23 hearing, however, the Petitioner has become aware that the Conservatee objects to the continuance of her Conservatorship and desires to terminate the conservatorship,” the company wrote in its filing. “Petitioner has heard the Conservatee and respects her wishes.” ...
The internet’s new favorite pair, 11-year old Nandi Bushell and the band’s drummer, Matt Helders, are back with part two of their four-part collaboration, taking on “R U Mine?” from Arctic Monkeys’ 2013 album, AM and “Brainstorm” with both on their respective drumkits. Bushell shared both clips to her social media, writing “Matt Helders came to my house for a cup of Tea and a Jam with me.” For “R U Mine?” Helders used Bushell’s drumkit labeled with “Peace, Respect, Love” while his sat in the background. Tenacious D, the rock comedy duo manned by Jack Black and Kyle Gass, started July with a rambunctious tribute, a medley of two classics by The Beatles, “You Never Give Me Your Money” and “The End.” “Tenacious D are paying tribute to the greatest band in the world…not themselves…The Beatles!!! Bryan St. Pere, the drummer for ’90s favorites Hum, has died at the age of 52. The band confirmed the news of St. Pere’s passing in a statement on their social media platforms. St. Pere joined the Champaign, Illinois-based band in 1990 and performed on the band’s cult single “Stars” prior to the band’s breakup in 2000. St. Pere didn’t rejoin the band for their 2015 reunion tour, but he featured on the band’s surprise 2020 album, Inlet, which landed on our list of the best albums of 2020 (so far) and was their first album in 22 years.
