The disgraced comedian’s conviction for sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee, has been vacated. Today (June 30), the Pennsylvania Supreme Court vacated Cosby’s conviction and ordered his release. In September 2018, Cosby was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison and was deemed a “sexually violent predator.” In April 2018, Cosby was found guilty of aggravated indecent assault for the drugging and sexual assault of Andrea Constand back in 2004. However, it seems like Cosby is now a free man on a technicality. Reports WKYC: The former comedian had appealed to the court in December when his lawyers argued that Cosby’s entire life...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Adam Davy – PA Images / Getty The Wimbledon tennis tournament is now the subject of immense backlash after superstar Serena Williams was forced to retire after suffering an injury minutes into the first set of her match due to the conditions of the court. The 23-time Grand Slam champion had just started her first round match on Tuesday (June 29th) against Aliksandra Sasnovich of Belarus when she slipped on the Centre Court grass twice. This caused her such pain that she immediately went to the net after a medical timeout and retired from the match, wiping away tears. It was a terrible setback, as she was favored to win her eighth title at the All England Club amid speculation that it could be one of her last tournaments as an active player. In a post on I...

Giveon took home the BET Award for best new artist, not long after the resurgence of his early 2020 single “Heartbreak Anniversary.” The track has spent 19 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and currently sits at No. 16. On the Rhythmic Airplay chart, the song peaked this week at No. 3. When it comes to its virality on TikTok, Giveon says he wasn’t “at all” expecting it but believes in the timelessness of his own music. “Songs with concepts like that, it’s always gonna resurge every once in a while because it’s a timeless topic. In 50 years, people are still gonna be going through the same thing,” says Giveon. “It’s just timeless. I want people to press play and not be able to dictate what decade it was made.” The Jus...

Back in 2019, two of James Franco’s former film students filed a lawsuit accusing him of engaging in sexual misconduct. Now, the actor-director has agreed to pay over $2.2 million to finally settle that suit. Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Toni Gaal, the two students behind the accusations, filed their lawsuit in October 2019. They claimed that Franco and his partners “engaged in widespread inappropriate and sexually charged behavior towards female students by sexualizing their power as a teacher and an employer by dangling the opportunity for roles in their projects.” The lawsuit named Franco, his business partner, and their production company Rabbit Bandini. Franco ran a film and acting school called Studio 4 from 2014 to 2017. It was there, said Tither-Kaplan and Gall, that the actor and direc...
Alexis Marshall of Daughters has shared “Open Mouth”, the latest single from the singer’s debut solo album, House of Lull . House of When, out July 23rd. The track is one of Marshall’s most experimental and emotionally intense to date. An accomplished poet, Marshall lets his words fly in a stream-of-consciousness flow that’s echoed by the sonic dissonance of off-kilter percussion, feedback squalls, and industrial percolations. On first listen, it sounds like the free-form equivalent of Daughters’ noisy epic “Satan in the Wait”. The John Bradburn-directed video provides an equally captivating visual counterpart, with actor Charlie Greenwood passionately miming Marshall’s words against sparse black and white terrain. From the press photography to the album artwork, Marshall’s artistic vision...
