Rich people in California, rejoice! It turns out that you will be able to purchase a brand spanking new 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 with a six-speed manual transmission in the Golden State after all. In case you missed it, due to an antiquated California noise regulation, it looked like Porsche would be unable to sell either flavor of its newest high performance GT3 (the winged original or the wingless, trendy Touring model) in the car’s biggest market. Moreover, you couldn’t simply buy a three-pedal GT3 in say Nevada and then register the car in California. For nearly a week, it looked as if there would be no 2022 model year GT3s for either the Hollywood or Silicon Valley set. Here’s Porsche’s initial explanation for why the GT3 ran afoul of California’s r...
In the letter below, agents and music artists ask that the government act without any further delay and engage with its EU counterparts to ensure visa-free touring for artists. RT Hon Boris Johnson MPPrime Minister10 Downing StreetLondon, SW1A 2AA Dear Prime Minister: The UK music industry, which sustains over 197,000 full-time jobs, is amongst the most affected by COVID-19’s devastating impacts, and thousands of musicians whose livelihoods depend on touring are keen to get back to work. However, due to the changes brought about by Brexit, we are facing a crisis that may prevent that from happening, and we need your help. Over the past several decades, the UK has experienced a consistent upward trajectory in live touring, bringing with it a significant and positive economic impact. Much of...
The soundtrack album to the movie musical In the Heights jumps 16-1 on Billboard’s Soundtracks chart (dated June 26), following the set’s first full tracking week of activity. It’s the first live-action musical soundtrack to top the chart since The Greatest Showman spent its 34th and (so far) final week at No. 1 on the Sept. 12, 2020-dated list. In the Heights bumps the Moana animated film soundtrack from No. 1, as it falls to No. 2 after 47 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1. All of the songs on the In the Heights album were written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Miranda also wrote many of the tunes on the Moana album, including the Grammy Award-winning song “How Far I’ll Go.” Billboard’s Soundtracks chart ranks the most popular soundtracks of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consum...
“What are you doing, get in here!” Parton told the gobsmacked Pearce. “I just want to tell you how proud I am of you,” the country icon said while grabbing Pearce’s hand. “Did you know she started singing at Dollywood when she was 16 years old? You do remember don’t you? And I know that they told me that you have been on the Grand Ole Opry 80 times you’ve performed? How’d you do that? Like 80 times?” “Oh my goodness, I’m just trying to follow in your footsteps,” the flustered Pearce said. “You should be a member of the Grand Ole Opry, what’s wrong with them?” Parton wondered, as Pearce seconded that emotion. “Well, I came here today to tell you you are now an official member of the Grand Ole Opry!” Pearce, as you might imagine, was overwhelmed...

Disney has found their newest princess. Rachel Zegler, the star of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming West Side Story film, has been cast as Snow White in the studio’s new live-action remake of the animated classic. Released in 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was Disney’s first animated feature film. It also introduced their debut princess, thus setting the stage for dozens of others in the coming decades. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming live-action musical will be “a new take on the classic.” Fingers crossed it’s slightly less terrifying than the original movie, in which a princess is fed a poisoned apple by her stepmother, the queen, and enters a coma that can only be revived by a kiss from a prince. This Snow White remake has been in the works for five years already, b...
In case you missed the memo, Tyler, the Creator season is officially in full swing, culminating in the release of his new album Call Me If You Get Lost this Friday. The rapper has shared another preview of the record today with the lovesick track “WUSYANAME”. The song arrives with a dreamy, summery music video directed by Tyler under his Wolf Haley pseudonym. “WUSYANAME” is short and sweet, backed by a ‘90s R&B groove as Tyler tries to woo the apple of his eye. “Let’s go to Cannes and watch a couple indie movies that you’ve never heard of,” goes one of the track’s standout lyrics. “If you got a man, you should cut him off/ Get your passport, ’cause we runnin’ off.” The music video sees Tyler arrive at an outdoor European-style cafe, making futile attempts to pick up a pretty woman who ...
Chris Brown has been accused of hitting a woman in Los Angeles, TMZ reports and NBC News confirms. According to a spokesperson for the LAPD, officers responded to reports of an argument at a residence in the San Fernando Valley. The altercation is being investigated as a battery, though it’s not clear at this time if Brown will face charges. Via TMZ’s anonymous police sources — who are often, though certainly not always, accurate — the alleged victim received a smack across her head that caused part of her weave to come out. Reportedly, she sustained no injuries, and Brown has not been arrested. If true, the troubled singer would likely face misdemeanor charges — if he were charged at all. No other relevant information can be confirmed at this time, but the story will be updated as news co...
