If you dive into the Tesla Model S Plaid configurator, you’ll find lots of caveats—just like you would in our First Test. One of the biggest was regarding the Model S Plaid’s claimed 200 mph top speed. “The indicated Plaid top speed requires proper wheels and tires which will be available in Fall 2021.” According to Tesla, the wheels and tires necessary for 200 mph are available on the Plaid now, but what isn’t is a software update needed to hit said speeds. Two sets of wheels are available on the Model S Plaid. Standard are 19-inch “Tempest” wheels, while optional are 21-inch “Arachnid” wheels, which come standard with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (like seen on our recent test Model S Plaid). It’s the latter set of wheels and ti...
The “Bang Bang” star added, “It’s literally my life line and my happiness. Being quiet is not something I’m good at. Or makes me feel like myself. Lord knows I’m loud af. It was in that moment I knew I needed to be honest with myself and honest with you all about where I am at and explain what is going on… To be totally real, to have your support and love would help me get through this faster I’m sure.” In December 2020, Jessie was hospitalized after being struck with Meniere’s disease, which left her temporarily deaf and unable to walk. Meniere’s is a chronic disease that can strike at any age, but usually starts between “young and middle-aged adulthood,” according to the Mayo Clinic. It can also be accompanied by ringing and a feeling...
Seventeen typically releases new music on a Monday, but with Your Choice, they’re released on a Friday. There’s a reason for that. They’re “targeting audiences in the U.S. and the Americas as well. And I think we’ll have more opportunities to perform on global shows,” Seungkwan said. “It’d be really nice to place our name on the main Billboard charts,” S.Coups added. “That would be really great and we’d get energized.” As part of their U.S. invasion, they’re performing Wednesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and other shows yet to be revealed. Your Choice is the group’s eighth EP, and it comes eight months after their last, October 2020’s Semicolon. Now all eyes are on them to see if they will become quadruple-million sellers,...
Nogizaka46’s “Gomenne Fingers Crossed” soars to No. 1 on the latest Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated June 7 to 13, selling 704,346 CDs in its first week. The popular girl group’s new single sold more copies than its predecessor, “Boku Ha Boku Wo Suki Ni Naru” (678,684 copies), to lead sales and look-ups, while also coming in at No. 6 for radio airplay, No. 15 for downloads, No. 19 for Twitter mentions, and No. 83 for video views. After leading the tally for two straight weeks, BTS’ “Butter” slips to No. 2, but continues to hold the top spots for streaming, video and Twitter. While the figures are tapering off — streams are down from last week’s 18,729,013 to 16,133,460, video views are also down from 11,348,160 to 7,309,315 views — the numbers themselves are still far greater than the tracks...
A fan favorite, “Three Lions” served as the official song of the England team at Euro ’96. Two years later, the enduring track was re-released as an unofficial anthem for England’s FIFA World Cup campaign. PRS’ Most Played UK National Football Anthems Chart ranks the official Football Association, FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro songs for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The list is based on streams and downloads across online music and video-on-demand platforms in 2020. Placing second on the list is “World in Motion,” performed by British rock band New Order with the English national football team (credited as Englandneworder) for the 1990 World Cup. Coming in at No. 3 on the chart is “This Time (We’ll Get it Right),” by the...
The latest bout of NFT-related drama has resulted in a first-of-a-kind lawsuit between Roc-A-Fella Records and one of its founders. TMZ reported Friday that the record company is suing co-founder Damon Dash for allegedly trying to sell Reasonable Doubt, Jay-Z’s 1996 debut album, as an NFT (non-fungible token). Roc-A-Fella claims that Dash had plans to auction off the Reasonable Doubt NFT; the record is notoriously difficult to find on vinyl, often being listed for over $100 on Discogs. According to documents filed by attorney Alex Spiro, the auction has since been canceled, but the company believes that Damon is “frantically scouting for another venue to make the sale.” Roc-A-Fella says Dash cannot legally sell Reasonable Doubt as an NFT because the rights to the album belong to the label....
Two weeks ago, Brooklyn-based electronic music venue Avant Gardner shared an announcement requiring attendees to be vaccinated for all upcoming shows. However, in response to the state of New York’s rescinding of COVID-19 restrictions, Avant Gardner has revoked its vaccine mandate. Earlier this week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo lifted sweeping state ordinances on social distancing requirements, capacity limits, health screenings, and cleaning protocols. The Governor’s statement followed a milestone that 70% of New York’s adult population had received at least one dose of the vaccine. Now, the onus is on private businesses to enact or drop COVID-19 safety policies for patrons. From the get-go, Avant Gardner made it clear that its vaccine mandate was made necessary due to local mand...
Despite it appearing in images pulled from Tesla’s own website, as well as making cameos in a handful of the automaker’s test cars, a traditional round steering wheel is not in the cards for the refreshed Model S electric vehicle. Instead, the brand is committing to the funky yoke-style steering device that the updated luxury sedan debuted with, which looks much like a normal steering wheel sans the upper rim. For those with a knack for pop culture, think of the steering setup used by Knight Rider‘s K.I.T.T. Admittedly, we rather like the design of Tesla’s new tiller (admit it, it looks cool), however, we were left underwhelmed by its execution after a week of living with a so-equipped Model S Plaid. This was especially true when driving at lower speeds wh...
During Richie’s previously recorded speech, he spoke about some of the challenges he faced during his early years while trying to define his own sound in music. “This award is the heartfelt confirmation that when I have kids that walk up to me and say, ‘I wanna be like you,’ that’s when I figured I did the right thing.” Jones was the last to virtually accept his award. He said, “I did want to take a moment to share how honored I am to be recognized with this award and how proud I am that the doors of the National Museum of African American Music are open.” The star, who began his musical career at just 14, also noted that he was wearing a shirt that was gifted to him by the late Nelson Mandela 46 years ago. Jones said, “I know he’...
Kelsey Grammer stars as a washed-up rock star in his latest movie, The Space Between, in which he performs music written by Rivers Cuomo. Following the film’s release on digital platforms earlier this week, the soundtrack is now available to stream on Apple Music and Spotify. The story centers around Micky Adams (Grammer) as a one-time chart-topping rockstar who’s at risk of getting dropped by his record label because of the experimental albums he keeps turning in. Eventually, the label sends a young-and-hungry mailroom worker, Charlie Porter (Jackson White), to Adams’ remote beach home in order to convince him to willfully drop out of the contract. In the process, the two form an unlikely bond. Spanning 11 tracks, The Space Between soundtrack primarily features Grammer’s songs from the mo...
