Gregory Porter Channels His Inner Chef on ‘The PorterHouse’ Cooking Series

“Like music, cooking is another way to make somebody smile,” says Porter, one of eight children. “Growing up, I knew singing songs for my mother made her happy. And whatever I needed to do to help prepare the food and cook made her happy too. I’m just trying to express that through the things that I love.” For Porter that includes giving back. Episode six centers around donating food to a local ministry and soup kitchen operated by his brother Dionne. In addition, the series’ sponsor Citi has pledged an additional donation to longtime partner No Kid Hungry to provide meals for U.S. families in need. The day after the season finale, Citi will host an exclusive, hour-long virtual event on June 17. It will open with an intimate Q&A featuring Porter before the singer takes the stage to per...

Cardi B Says Her ‘F9′ Character Leysa Is a ‘Powerful, Strong Woman’

In the minute-long teaser, Cardi is seen strutting on a set in a form-fitting white dress in a scene with star Diesel and chilling in a warehouse full of the gang’s souped-up rides while rocking a black jumpsuit. She also does a line read with Diesel in the back of a truck packed with women in black tactical gear, saying, “Dimelo papi!” and then breaking character and laughing, “I hate saying that!… cuz you know I don’t really flirt with Spanish.” She also tweeted about the film that stars Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Luda, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Helen Mirren and Kurt Russell, writing, “I can’t wait to watch Fast and furious 9 .I haven’t seen my scenes yet! Brian Wilson’s Survival Story Told in New Documentary ‘Long Promised Road’

Film director Brent Wilson (no relation) contacted Fine after his own attempts to interview Wilson bore little fruit. Fine said his own experiences with the musician have taught him that “being there when he’s ready to talk has always been a big thing with Brian.” So they hit the road, eventually filming some 70 hours. Wilson’s importance to southern California is evident at some of the stops along their drive. A sign now marks the spot where a Beach Boys album cover was shot. While the boyhood home of Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson in Hawthorne no longer stands, a plaque marks that location, too. “I didn’t feel that Brian’s story, Brian’s third act now, had been done properly,” Fine said in an interview with The Associated Press. “I think that Brian is often seen as a recluse, as a victim,...

Rita Moreno Responds to ‘In the Heights’ Colorism Criticism: ‘You Can Never Do Right, It Seems’

On Sunday, a video from online magazine The Root went viral in which host and producer Felice León confronted In the Heights director Jon M. Chu and actors including Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera and Gregory Diaz IV over colorism in the film’s casting choices. Chu acknowledged that the conversation was a “fair” one to have, adding that he hopes more people will be encouraged to “tell more stories and get out there and do it right.” On Monday, Miranda addressed the criticisms himself in a message on Twitter. “I can hear the hurt and frustration over colorism, of feeling still unseen in the feedback. I hear that without sufficient dark-skinned Afro-Latino representation, the work feels extractive of the community we wanted so much to represent with pride and joy...

Die Hard’s Jeb Stuart to Write Assassin’s Creed Live-Action Series at Netflix

Netflix is slowly chipping away at their new Assassin’s Creed live-action TV series, and the proof is in Jeb Stuart. The screenwriter best known for penning blockbuster action films like Die Hard has just been tapped to write the highly anticipated adaptation. Stuart has ventured into the world of TV shows before for Netflix, including limited series like The Liberator and the recent addition Vikings: Valhalla, the sequel to History Channel’s Vikings. However, he’s best known for his feature film scripts, many of which went on to become staples in the action genre. He made a splash when his first screenplay turned into Die Hard in 1988. Afterwards, he went on to help pen the sci-fi horror Leviathan, Sylvester Stallone’s prison thriller Lock Up, the 1993 classic The Fugitive. He even w...

Courtney Love Apologizes for Since-Deleted Posts About Trent Reznor and Dave Grohl

Courtney Love has issued an apology for incendiary remarks she made over the weekend directed at Trent Reznor and Dave Grohl. Her June 13th post has since been deleted, but as ThePRP, Metal Injection, and others documented in screen shots, she accused Grohl of enriching himself at the expense of herself and her late husband Kurt Cobain, while alleging that Reznor was complicit in the abuse of “girls as young as 12.” “I need to apologize for my recent post,” she wrote in her Instagram stories on June 14th. “It was insensitive and it was wrong. No matter how I feel, there are real people behind my words and I need to learn to be more responsible with my words. I am truly sorry for those I’ve hurt and I will do better.” Love’s feud with the surviving members of Nirvana is no se...

2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring First Look: Wingless Wonder

It’s Touring time! For the 2022 model year, the popular wingless Touring trim returns for the 992 GT3, bringing with it a knapsack of subtle aesthetic changes over the standard be-winged GT3. More importantly, this also stokes the digital flames of Porsche-centric Facebook groups and forums wherein Touring fans argue as to why their spoiler-free variants are vastly superior to their gauche, peacocking normie GT3 siblings. See all 23 photos Don’t worry, kids, we love you both equally, with and without a little junk on the trunk. We also love the new 992 GT3 Touring; some of us here at MotorTrend think the standard 992 GT3’s hanging swan neck rear spoiler is a bit ungainly, so an unadorned rear decklid is just what Der Doktor ordered. At least in our fantasies, as we’...
