Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has advised media organisations to set up special desks for fact-checking in order to guard against being misled by fake news and misinformation. He gave the advice in Abuja yesterday when he hosted the editorial board of the Guardian Newspaper on a courtesy visit. The minister urged media organisations in Nigeria to take his suggestion seriously, noting that establishment of a special desk for fact-checking will curb the problem of fake news and enable the citizens to separate fact from fiction. He said in the era of fake news and misinformation, the media has a duty to get its facts right and ensure that charlatans and hackers do not dominate the media space, as it is increasingly becoming the case in the country. When the Model S was the only car Tesla made, it relied solely on cameras for its suite of driver aid systems. However, Tesla wasn’t marketing Autopilot or Full Self Driving almost a decade ago when the Model S made its debut. This major hardware change comes hot on the heels of recent scrutiny of Tesla’s Autopilot system after a fatal crash that involved a Model S in Texas. See all 62 photos Not only that, but Tesla just debuted its new 4D Radar tech in October of last year, so the move away from radar is a surprising one, even if Elon Musk’s longstanding antipathy to lidar perhaps hinted that the company would go all-in on camera tech eventually. It’s not a riddle, but rather the reality facing America’s independent venues, as more than five months after Congress passed the $16 billion Save Our Stages Act, not a single dime has been distributed in relief. As Variety reports, a pandemic crisis has been compounded by a crisis of bureaucracy. The bipartisan SOS Act was signed by Donald Trump last December, and its passage was hailed by artists including Dave Grohl. But while other programs targeting small business, such as the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), saw relatively quick rollouts, the Small Business Administration’s implementat...

The Oingo Boingo founder has updated the 1982 track with new lyrics inspired the politics of our time. “Old white men, they’re back in power again,” he snarls. “They’re sucking all the power and pride/ They’re leaving us anesthetized/ They’re trying to lobotomize.” In a statement, Elfman shared the background behind “Insects”.
