The livestream show aired on Halloween, just a few weeks after the death of Eddie Van Halen in early October. Mr. Bungle singer Mike Patton told us he was a big fan of Van Halen in an interview shortly after the legendary guitarist’s passing. “[Eddie is] right at the top,” said Patton. “That guy’s on the mountain of rock guitarists. And his level of musicianship was off the charts. … We’re gonna miss him.” Regardi...
The lasting impression of Avicii is not easily captured in words. The impact he had on his home city of Stockholm alone is seen through monuments and murals spread throughout the city. Now, one of Sweden’s most visited and iconic venues, the Ericsson Globe, has been renamed as the Avicii Arena. The partnership between the Tim Bergling Foundation and ASM Global’s Stockholm Live has transformed the venue into a symbol of the #ForABetterDay initiative, which focuses on helping young people with mental illness and suicide prevention. They kicked off the program last year by asking Sweden’s youth to share their mental health issues, worries, and concerns with the foundation. In August, Sweden’s Prime Minister will present their thoughts and voices to the public.&nb...
When Chevrolet introduced the current Silverado 1500 in 2018, the internet erupted with various opinions—not many of which were positive. That’s not surprising for the anonymous web world, but it’s clear that the super-slender headlights, big air intakes, and prominent grille form a busy fascia that deviates greatly from the traditional, boxier Chevy front ends of yesteryear. There’s good news on the horizon, however, for those who couldn’t develop a fondness for the current Silverado. According to GM Authority, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will receive a comprehensive mid-cycle update for 2022, with less odd styling and a host of small changes inside and out. The next-gen Toyota Tundra is nearly here, so naturally the slow-drip reveal of its basic appearance and details has begun. Toyota is kicking off the run-up to the new full-size truck’s debut with a full-frontal look at the Tundra’s front end. It’s about time: The current Tundra has been on sale in much the same form since 2008. Yes, the image (and accompanying video, below) is smokey, and yes, the truck is backlit like it’s testifying against organized crime—if there were any sound attached, we bet it’d have that voice-garbler robotically altering the Toyota’s engine sound. Even so, one thing’s for sure: The 2022 Tundra will have a lot of interesting front-end lighting. As we predicted, based on spy photos and artists’ renderings, the new tr...

Today, the duo have finally shared the product of their collaboration, “Nothing’s Special”, a new reworking of OPN’s 2020 track of the same name. Singing in Spanish, Rosalía puts her own spin on the lyrics after staying true to the first several lines of Oneohtrix Point Never’s original. Over OPN’s familiar atmospheric synths, she describes the pain of losing her best friend. “Estoy triste, perdí a mi mejor amigo/ Y la vida que vivimos ya no está,” she painfully sings. “Dicho eso aún me impresiona que no sea tan especial/ Si miras co...

It’s out July 23 via his own Inside Recordings, and to herald its coming, Browne has shared a music video for the lead single “My Cleveland Heart” that shows Phoebe Bridgers having a bloody good time. For now, few details are known about Downhill from Everywhere, except that pre-orders will start his Friday, May 21st. But Browne did say in a statement on his website that the album had a recurring theme of inclusion. “There’s a deep current of inclusion running through this record,” he said. “I think that idea of inclusion, of opening yourself up to ...
