Keith Urban Says Daft Punk Was His Dream Collaborator

It’s becoming more and more clear that Daft Punk‘s 2021 split had far-reaching consequences way beyond the confines of electronic dance music. Speaking to Eamonn Kelly of Smooth Radio’s sister station Smooth Country, decorated country-pop recording artist Keith Urban called out the legendary electronic duo as his dream collaborator, saying he was “heartbroken” by the robots’ shocking breakup. “I really wanted to do something with Daft Punk, and I was heartbroken that they’ve disbanded,” Urban said. “That was somebody who was probably top of my list of artists who I really, really, admire—the work that they have done in the studio. Because it’s the highest level of that kind of craftsmanship. They’re just unbelievably great at it.”...

Alfa Romeo Pays Tribute to Abarth 1000 SP With Retro-Restyled 4C

Historically-informed one-off custom cars are a bit of a thing recently. Ferrari’s Omologato 812 Superfast from last year, the absolutely bonkers ’80s-tastic Aston Martin Victor, the Atlantic-inspired Bugatti La Voiture Noire, and so on. Add Alfa Romeo to the list with their Abarth 1000 SP, a tribute to the 1966 original with the same name. But while those sports cars were customer orders, this creation is the work of Centro Stile Fiat & Abarth, looking to do something special on the 55th anniversary of the original. See all 4 photos The original 1000 SP was a small sports prototype racer, wearing the sort of elegantly simple lines that the period was known for. Built for FIA Group 4 competition, its 1.0-liter engine made about 103 horsepower—enough to see some success...

Dylan Scott Shares the Story Behind Hit Love Song ‘Nobody’

Scott is gearing up to accompany Luke Bryan on his Proud To Be Right Here tour this summer, along with Caylee Hammack, Runaway June and DJ Rock. Below, Scott tells Billboard the origin story behind “Nobody,” what he is most excited for upon his return to live shows and more. How did “Nobody” come together and what was your headspace when making the song?  We were on the road playing shows and I had a couple of writers, Matt Alderman and Dallas Wilson. My wife and I, we’ve been together a long time — since we were 15 years old — so the love songs are kind of easy to write. I just remember us being on the back of the bus late one night like, “Let’s just write a simple love song.” So my budd...

H.E.R. Was Almost in a Band With Kehlani & Zendaya

“Dylan Wiggins, who is D’wayne Wiggins‘ son from Tony! Toni! Toné! We used to be in a band together,” H.E.R. said in an interview on The Carlos Watson Show. “We used to perform together when we were really young and Kehlani was actually in our band. We all used to sing together. Zendaya was going to be in it at one point. But yeah, they all grew up together. I came into the picture in Oakland, and we used to perform together.” Wiggins and H.E.R. were two out of the six members of the teen band PopLyfe, which went on to compete on season 6 of America’s Got Talent and finish in fourth place. Judge Piers Morgan encouraged Kehlani to pursue a solo career, telling her in the semifinals, “You’ve got real talent, but I don&...

Ministry Guitarist Sin Quirin Exits Band in Wake of Allegations of Underage Sexual Relationships Years Ago

In a report published in January 2020, two women told Spin magazine that Quirin approached them when they were teens attending performances of Society 1, the band he was in at the time. One woman, Kelly Longoria, alleged she was 15 and he was 33 when they first met and that he began traveling to visit her when she were still in high school. Longoria also claimed Quirin had sex with her numerous times while she was a minor. Longoria included these details in a sworn statement she gave to the San Antonio Police Department in 2017, 15 years after she first met Quirin.  (Spin reported that no criminal charges had ever been filed against Quirin based on Longoria’s allegation, citing Longoria saying she had been told by an SAPD officer that a local district attorney had rejected the ca...

Someone Spent $14,145 on 6 Strands of Kurt Cobain’s Hair

In the category of “gross stories we kind of hoped we’d never have to think of again,” Kurt Cobain’s hair that was recently put up for auction has officially sold for more than $14,000. If you split hairs, each singular one went for a total of $2,357.50. The winning bid of $14,145 in “The Amazing Music Auction (Vol. I)” secured the six strands of hair that were cut by the Nirvana frontman’s friend, Tessa Osbourne, while in Birmingham, England on the Bleach tour in October 1989. Presumably, the buyer was either a bit of a stalker-ish super fan who needed to own an actual piece of the rock legend or a mad scientist/witch/warlock bent on reanimating the corpse of grunge with Cobain’s DNA. Either way, it’s probably for the best if none of us ever finds out what becomes of t...
