See all 8 photos What’s In a Name? Ford has been resurrecting classic names for new versions of its “icons” lineup: namely those related to the Mustang and the Bronco. On the former, Ford has leveraged the “Mach” name for its electric Mustang-branded Mach-E SUV and the gas-fed Mach 1 coupe; for the latter, Ford both revived the Bronco nameplate for its Jeep Wrangler-fighting 4×4 and slapped the “Bronco Sport” name on a smaller car-based compact crossover. The idea is to leverage these iconic names to sell more vehicles beyond the core Mustang and Bronco lineups by building each nameplate into compelling standalone sub-brands. For the electric F-150, which has been widely publicized as going on sale in 2022, the Lightning name is almost to...
Australia’s car culture is cool, but you probably already knew that. While its homegrown cars—including rear-wheel drive utes and big-horsepower, V-8 sedans—have mostly died off, the pickup culture remains strong. To wit, Australia is one of the lucky recipients of the Ford Ranger Raptor, the jacked-up, widebody version of the global midsize pickup we get a version of here in non-Raptor form. The closest we get to the Raptor’s badassery currently is the (pretty cool, but narrow-body) Ranger Tremor Package. Meanwhile, in Australia, the Ranger Raptor is getting gussied up even further with the X package. The X package is already well known in that country from doing duty on the Ranger Wildtrak trim. The 2021 Ranger Wildtrak X gets a number of upgrades, mainly cosmetic save the sn...
Modest Mouse announced on Wednesday (May 5) that the rock band will release its first album in six years, The Golden Casket, on June 25 via Epic Records. The Grammy-nominated troupe released the first single “We Are Between” the same day, with a visualizer that illustrates the title of the album in its most vibrant form. Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee produced the album in Los Angeles and in Modest Mouse’s Portland, Ore.-based studio. Throughout The Golden Casket, frontman Isaac Brock explores themes ranging from fatherhood to invisible tech through punk and experimental techniques. Modest Mouse’s highly anticipated seventh studio album serves as the follow-up to 2015’s Strangers to Ourselves, which shot to No. 1 on both of Billboard‘...
“Anytime You Need a Friend” soundtracks Pray Tell checking in to rehab on the latest episode. Fans around the world are preparing to say goodbye by tuning in to the final season of Pose on FX — and one of those fans happens to be the Elusive Chanteuse herself, Mariah Carey. (Spoilers for season 3, episode 2 of Pose ahead.) At the end of the latest episode of the show’s final season, Pray Tell (played by Billy Porter) decided to check himself into a rehabilitation center to sober up and begin to deal with his alcoholism — and as he did, Carey’s 1994 hit “Anytime You Need a Friend” played in the background, much to the delight of the show’s fans. Pose co-creator Steven Canals took to Twitter on Monday to explain why the son...
Daniel Caesar, meanwhile, reaches No. 1 with his first appearance on Rhythmic Airplay. Giveon, too, achieves a first leader with a first showing. Since “Peaches” debuted on the list, though, he’s added a second song on the chart: His sleeper hit “Heartbreak Anniversary” scores its fifth week on the chart and pushes 23-19 on the new ranking. As “Peaches” completes its journey to No. 1 in six weeks, it logs the fastest trip among Bieber’s five chart-toppers. “I’m the One” previously held the mark in his roster, needing seven weeks before its coronation. With the Rhythmic dominion conquered, “Peaches” will likely next set its sights on top 40 radio. The collaboration darts 6-2 on the Pop Airplay chart, which measures the most-played tracks at mainstream top 40 stations. There, the song adds 2...

New episodes will also hit the streaming service on Wednesday, instead of the Friday release schedule used for WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The announcement was made by the God of Mischief himself, Tom Hiddleston, who glibly alluded to Loki being overlooked in the Marvel Cinematic Universe despite being “heroic, cunning, and charming.” He proceeded to dub Wednesday the “new Friday.” Earlier this week, Marvel fans received another preview of Loki with a short teaser trailer that aired during the NBA game between ...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-05T18:35:39+00:00“>May 5, 2021 | 2:35pm ET Toledo, the Brooklyn duo with the Ohio name, have unveiled their new song “David”. The single comes with an alternate version of “Sunday Funday” from February’s Jockeys of Love EP on the B-side. On “David”, Daniel Álvarez de Toledo and Jordan Dunn-Pilz have crafted a dreamy ode to shared trauma and communal recovery, with searching guitars and an occasional banjo flourish that’s supported by slow, shuffling drums. “‘David’ was written for my younger brother,” Dunn-Pilz said in a statement. “As siblings we share a lot of the same emotional baggage, but we process things differently as individuals. The song came out of a des...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-05T19:27:50+00:00“>May 5, 2021 | 3:27pm ET Death Cab for Cutie have announced a new album, Live at the Showbox, out May 7th as a Bandcamp Friday exclusive. It will be available for only 24 hours and a portion of the proceeds will benefit NIVA (National Independent Venue Association). The LP will then receive an official release later this year. As the name suggests, Live at the Showbox was recorded during a three-night run of shows at Seattle’s Showbox prior to COVID-19. Taking place February 24th-26th, the run supported the “Save the Showbox” campaign to secure landmark status for the historic theater. During their set, Death Cab performed songs spanning from their 2000 second s...
