Danny Elfman recently opened up about his displeasure concerning how his score to Batman was used in the film. The iconic composer addressed the rumor while he was a guest on the Premier Guitar podcast. The Oscar-nominated Elfman explained that he was greatly disappointed at the premiere of Batman in 1989 when he heard for the first time how his score was used in the Tim Burton classic. Elfman said he was “reasonably happy” with the mix of the score, his 10th, but disappointed with the dub, or how the music was transferred into the film. “I was terribly unhappy with the dub in Batman,” Elfman said. “They did it in the old-school way where you do the score and turn it into the ‘professionals’ who turn the nobs and dub it in. And dubbing had gotten r...
Ringo Starr nonchalantly revealed his favorite Beatles song while participating in Stephen Colbert’s “Colbert Questionert.” The segment, which was originally filmed during the legendary drummer’s appearance on The Late Show in March, featured Starr answering a number of questions, ranging from favorite sandwich to “You get one song to listen to for the rest of your life. What is it?” “Come Together,” Starr responded without hesitation. “There’s lots of other favorites, but if you want one, ‘Come Together’ can’t be bad,” he added, confirming it’s his favorite Beatles song. “I just think it worked perfectly with the band and the song and John being John. I loved that moment.” Elsewhere in the “Questionert,” Starr shared his unique take on the afterlife. “I think we go to heave...

A pandemic couldn’t stop the onslaught of electric vehicles coming—in some cases the crisis accelerated it. But that’s not the only headline-grabbing “disruption” in the auto industry. No, the real disruptor these days is the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage—and the prognosis is not good, which can mean customers will be waiting even longer for hot new products. The computer chip shortage and its impact on production will get worse before it gets better, Ford CEO Jim Farley told investors on a call to discuss the company’s first-quarter earnings. A few months ago, Ford executives thought the shortage (which is forcing automakers around the world to temporarily stop making vehicles) would be on the rebound within months and lost production would be made up i...

“It occurred to me to have a girl that can add that feminine energy in the song and a colleague who would add fire,” he says. “It was always clear to me that Nicki and De La Ghetto were it. I sent them the song immediately and I’m grateful that they connected with the song.” It was at the video shoot, helmed by director Daniel Eguren, that both Puerto Rican artists met Nicki for the first time. “I didn’t have much time to talk or hang out with them, everything happened so fast,” the Argentine trap star admits. “But something that I learned from them was their energy and how they see music. They are constantly talking about their culture and I was constantly paying attention because I like to learn about their movement. Being there with Pedro and De La Ghetto was inc...
Rochelle Jordan’s latest single, “Already,” is about the moment when one decides to leave a toxic relationship. It’s a moment, however difficult, that she navigates with grace and finesse. A highlight from her new album Play With the Changes (out now on Tokimonsta’s Young Art label), “Already” features Jordan’s vocals gliding over smooth deep house production — she’s cool and breezy in her delivery, as if finally emotionally detached when she tells her subject that if they were going to change for the better, it would have already happened. When she trades in her airy R&B croons for husky rap, her boss transformation feels complete. “This song is the moment it becomes so clear to you, and you feel this sense of freedom because you know it’s actually over in your mind and hea...
