Like WHOA: Honoring The Life & Legacy Of Black Rob [Playlist]

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: New York Daily News Archive / Getty The city of New York has lost two of its grittiest and grimiest spitters, first DMX and now the great Black Rob. The East Harlem native passed away Saturday (April 17) and we’ve tried our best to feature a bevy of songs from the former Bad Boy Records star. Born Robert Ross on July 12, 1969, Black Rob began his career in his early 20s after dabbling with the art form since grade school. His official debut album Life Story was released on Bad Boy Records in 2000, spawning the massive hit “Whoa!” and the single “Espacio” alongside Lil’ Kim. Like fellow street soldier DMX, Black Rob relied on his vocal instrument to communicate his pain and strife as he navigated an industry that wasn’t kind to an artist that was groomed i...

Class Action Fyre Festival Suit Reaches $2 Million Settlement for Attendees

Prior to its catastrophic downfall, it at one point seemed that Fyre Festival could command any price for a coveted ticket to the Great Exuma event. Now, four years in the rearview, it ended up being the attendees who would be compensated for their troubles. Well, at least some of them anyway.  According to The New York Times, 277 ticket holders have reached a settlement with Fyre Festival amounting to a total of $2 million—that’s $7,220 apiece. Due to the stratification of ticket prices, which ranged from $1,000 to $12,000 a pop, and with some limited luxury packages priced in the tens of thousands, it’s difficult to say whether anyone came out ahead or even broke even in terms of financials after all of this. The initial class action suit was submitted for a cl...

What Is SHERP the Ark?! Check Out This Extreme ATV

According to the manufacturer, it’s not actually a sport utility vehicle—it’s an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). Whatever you call it, SHERP the Ark 3400 is impressive. Earlier this year on Top Gear America, Jethro Bovingdon got to—throw?—one of these 10-wheeled beasts around when the guys were comparing $250,000 luxury SUVs in Colorado. Where SHERP (The SHERP? The SHERP the Ark? Our buddy, SHERPy? Mr. the Ark?) might be lacking in creature comforts, it does not lack in capability.  This go-anywhere, do-anything, overland work vehicle can haul up to 3,400 kg of cargo or 22 people over nearly any terrain imaginable. You might think, “What could it do without the trailer, though?” Buddy, that’s not a trailer. That’s a six-wheel-drive, multi-configurable ca...
