In a typical, non-pandemic-times Tiny Desk concert, the guest artist performs an intimate set while stuffed behind desks in NPR’s actual office workspace. Throughout the coronavirus, NPR has kept the Tiny Desk institution alive by having musicians send in pre-recorded sets from their homes or studios, but clipping. decided to switch up that now-predictable format. For their contribution to the Tiny Desk Meets SXSW series, the group — rapper Daveed Diggs and...

Ted Nugent Wants to Know Where the Shutdowns Were for COVID-1 Through COVID-18 — No, Really

The COVID-19 pandemic did a pretty good job showing which musicians, celebrities, friends, and family members believe in science and which prefer conspiracy theories. But on the scale that tops out around Van Morrison, Ted Nugent is in a league of his own. Long known as the rock ‘n roll’s uncle whom you wouldn’t want to be stuck next to at the Thanksgiving table, the guitar legend and borderline right-wing extremist hit the conspiracy-friendly forum of Facebook Live (and originally transcribed by Blabbermouth) yesterday to ponder one of the hardest questions for those who don’t have a basic knowledge of science or recent etymology: “Why were there no shutdowns for COVID-1 through -18?” Of course, the factual answer to that question is that there never was a COVID-1, COVID-18, or any other ...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Bernard Smalls / Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra New year, new Samsung Galaxy phone. But is the Galaxy S21 Ultra any different from the companies other offerings? Samsung left much to be desired with the Galaxy S20 Ultra, even though Samsung stuffed the phone with all kinds of features like space zoom that honestly was super gimmicky. Samsung went back to the drawing board with the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G and delivered one of the best smartphone experiences at a significantly lower price. Display & Design Source: Bernard Smalls / Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra One thing you’re always gonna get with any Samsung smartphone is a great display, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra easily delivers that with its 6.8-inch 120Hz Quad HD display. The screen on the S21 Ultra is the first o...

If you’re waiting to see Rage Against the Machine reunite on stage, you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer. Roger Waters Says Rescheduled ‘This Is Not A Drill’ Tour Could Be His Last

Roger Waters  announced that his This Is Not A Drill tour has been rescheduled for the summer of 2022 – and hinted that the run may be his “last hurrah” or at least his “first farewell tour!” The shows are more than mere concerts, as the politically minded Waters explained in a press statement: “This Is Not A Drill is a groundbreaking new rock and roll/cinematic extravaganza, performed in the round, it is a stunning indictment of the corporate dystopia in which we all struggle to survive, and a call to action to LOVE, PROTECT and SHARE our precious and precarious planet home. The show includes a dozen great songs from PINK FLOYD’S GOLDEN ERA along side several new ones, words and music, same writer, same heart, same soul, same man. Could be his last hurrah. Wow! My first farewell...

Confirmed: Chevy Camaro 1LE Handling Package Dead for Models Without V-8

While not as extensive as the 1LE treatment found on V-8 powered SS models, the 1LE handling pack on lesser Camaros was still a tremendous value for the money. For $4,500, V-6 and turbo-four-powered ‘Maros were treated to the Camaro SS’s FE3 suspension setup. That means the dampers, rear cradle mounts, ball-jointed rear toe links, and stabilizer bars were all lifted from the V-8 car and bestowed upon its lesser counterparts. But the upgrades didn’t stop there. Some wider wheels wrapped in stickier Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires, Brembo four-piston front brake calipers, a mechanical limited-slip differential with 3.27 ratio, a cooling package for the engine, transmission, and differential, fuel system optimization for cornering, a dual-mode exhaust system, and a short-...

Pyramid Scheme: Egypt Moves 22 Mummies Using Carsophaguses

Transporting ancient mummies is kind of a big deal, a task to be taken with the utmost of care and attention to detail. These are national treasures. Hence, the rare occurrence of relocating 18 New Kingdom mummified kings and four queens from the Egyptian Museum near Cairo’s Tahrir Square to the new National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Old Cairo necessitated a full-on made-for-television procession called The Pharaohs’ Golden Parade. See all 30 photos Organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the parade saw mummies travel in special floats in chronological order of their reigns, starting with the oldest ruler, Seqenenre Taa II (17th Dynasty) to Ramses IX (12th Century B.C.) along downtown Cairo’s freshly repaved three-mile southbound route. Als...
