Vicky Cornell, her lawyer, and a former band manager have all hit back at the remaining members of Soundgarden following the filing of legal papers earlier this week demanding Vicky relinquish the band’s social media and website passwords. The surviving band members claim that Vicky has let Soundgarden’s social media pages fall into disrepair. They said they’ve been locked out of the various social media accounts ever since go-between company Patriot Management gave Vicky the passwords in late 2019. It’s the latest in a long-running legal dispute between the Chris Cornell estate and Soundgarden. In a statement posted on the official Chris Cornell Instagram Stories, former manager Ron Lafitte’s appeared to side with Vicky Cornell’s camp: “During my six years working with Chris Cornell and S...
Don’t let the 2021 Lexus IS300 AWD‘s name deceive you; while the $40,025 rear-drive IS300 uses a 241-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 for motivation, the $42,025 all-wheel-drive IS300 has a 3.5-liter V-6. So despite sharing a badge with a four-cylinder car, it actually shares its engine with the pricier IS350 F Sport that stickers for $43,925 in rear-drive guise and $45,925 with AWD. There’s a “but” in there, though, as the IS300 AWD’s 3.5-liter V-6 makes just 260 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, 51 fewer horses and 44 fewer lb-ft than its IS350 stablemate. But the lesser IS model’s V-6 sure doesn’t feel detuned. In our testing, an IS300 AWD needed 5.7 seconds to scoot from 0 to 60 mph, the same as a 100-pounds-light...
“Chemtrails Over the Country Club” is her fifth leader, matching Foo Fighters’ record. Lana Del Rey ties Foo Fighters for the most No. 1s in the history of Billboard‘s Alternative Albums chart, earning her fifth ruler with Chemtrails Over the Country Club on the tally dated April 3. Chemtrails bows at No. 1 with 75,000 equivalent album units earned in the March 19-25 tracking week, according to MRC Data. Of that sum, 58,000 units comprise album sales. Del Rey first crowned Alternative Albums (which began in 2007) for two weeks in 2012 with her first LP, Born to Die, followed by one-week reigns for Honeymoon (2015), Lust for Life (2017) and Norman Fucking Rockwell (2019), ahead of Chemtrails. Foo Fighters have led the list with Echoes, Silence, Patience & Gr...

If Mike Posner‘s goal was to show Avicii he was cool, he should consider the mission accomplished. In an intimate interview with Forbes, Posner opened up about his impending climb of Mt. Everest for the Detroit Justice Center and the loss of both his parents and Avicii. Posner, who successfully walked across the country in 2019, said his journey was inspired by the death of the legendary “Levels” producer. “When someone you love dies it’s like you’re sleeping and someone dumps a bucket of ice water on you or something. You wake up,” Posner told Forbes’ Steve Baltin. “And so those two deaths (my dad and Avicii), reminded me of what I wanted to do before I died. And hopefully that’s no time soon. But I’m not totally ...

Self-described “Baltimore shit-stirrers” Pinkshift have released their debut EP Saccharine and it’s exactly the angsty, melodic-punk listeners have been anticipating. The EP features four previously released singles, “On Thin Ice,” “Toro,” “Rainwalk,” and their most popular tune, “I’m Gonna Tell My Therapist On You.” In conjunction with Saccharine’s release, Pinkshift shared a re-recorded version of “Mars,” a song released as a demo in 2019. “I’m Gonna Tell My Therapist On You,” an undeniably catchy tune, went viral upon its release in late July, a few short months after the band’s first tour as a four-piece was canceled due to the pandemic. In an interview with SPIN last year, lead singer Ashrita Kumar recalls a conversation with her guitarist, Paul Vall...
Leave it to Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer frontman Maynard James Keenan to offer an alternative to The Passion of Christ and Peter Rabbit for Easter viewing. “This is An Easter Story. There are many. But this one is ours,” Keenan says. In the seven-minute documentary-style clip — shot, directed, and narrated by Keenan — he speaks on the origin of Easter egg hunts, the vernal equinox, and more. As Keenan feeds and cares for the ducks at his Arizona vineyard home, he explains that searching for eggs on Easter is “not a random, non-sequitur ritual.” In his “no duck left behind” daily count, he discovers Larry is missing, and that she’s hidden in the brush to lay an egg. He also discusses the importance of community, concluding, “we can not always do this thing of life on our own.” An Ea...
