Lorde made her special appearance this week during the encore of Williams’ set, in support of his 2020 album release Plastic Bouquet, a country collaboration with Kacy & Clayton. Williams has been tagged as the “impossible love child of Elvis, Roy Orbison & Townes Van Zandt,” and is arguably best-known to U.S. audiences for his on-stage role in the 2018 hit film A Star Is Born. Lorde (born Ella Yelich-O’Connor) has had the world at her feet since “Royals” ruled the Billboard Hot 100 for nine weeks and set a new record for the longest streak atop the Alternative Songs chart by a woman. Back in November 2019, she hinted that her third album was “in the oven.” Watch the performance below. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Onlin...
Memphis artist Don Lifted has signed to Fat Possum Records and shared a new single called “Lost in Orion”. It’s his first new music since 2019, and it’s a fascinating blend of genres that feels both fresh and familiar. As Don Lifted, songwriter born Lawrence Matthews has been putting out music since 2013. According to his Bandcamp, he dropped three volumes of The December LP series within a one-year-period, and then he followed those with two other albums that are currently on streaming services, 2016’s Alero and 2018’s Contour. Although the former of those two albums predated Frank Ocean’s 2016 opus by a month, Matthews is planted firmly within the Blond(e) school of music. Contour and the handful of singles he released that same year meld together ...
Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade has announced his new album, Fading Graffiti. Due out on April 16th as the first release on his own Pronounced Kroog label, the LP marks Krug’s first album under his own name. He previously released several solo projects as Moonface and Sunset Rubdown. Spanning 10 songs, Fading Graffiti reimagines piano ballads originally posted on Krug’s Patreon page, which was used to help fund the creation of the album. Aided by a full band, the tracks were recontextualized as indie rock songs. “It’s kind of neat the way these songs transformed,” Krug told Stereogum in a new interview. “The piano versions were more fussy and intricate, because that’s how I end up writing on piano. I had an urge to simplify them a little bit, because I could hear some mellow soft-rock numbers ...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Jeremy Moeller / Getty Griselda might be your favorite hardcore Hip-Hop group of the 20’s, but that doesn’t mean each individual MC of the three-man group isn’t capable of bodying a track all by themselves. For his clip to “Julia Lang,” Westside Gunn is showing and proving he’s just as deadly in the booth when he rolls dolo as he is when with Conway and Benny and shines bright under the lights of Times Square before lamping in the studio to lay down some heat. Man got more ice than an eskimo. No wonder he always got a bubble jacket to keep warm. Down south Juicy J links up with Lil Baby for their visuals to “2CHAINS” where they two run a used cars spot and pawn shop to cash in on used merchandise because why not? Concerts, remember those? In New Zealand, they’ve got the whole COVID thing figured out, meaning that concerts are back on like they were pre-March 2020. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, Marlon Williams has been on tour and for the final night of his four-night stint at Auckland’s Hollywood Theatre, he brought out none other than Lorde, who has been laying extremely low over the past few years. Together, they joined forces for a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s 1987 “Tougher Than the Rest,” one of the most underrated chestnuts from his catalog. The song was originally released on Tunnel of Love. Unlike the moody, midtempo rocker, the Lorde and Williams version is a tender piano ballad. This isn’t the first time Lorde has tipped her proverbial cap to the Boss. In 2017, she covered “...

Last year, Tame Impala rang in the 10th anniversary of their debut album, Innerspeaker, by rolling out a limited-edition box set. It looks like those celebrations won’t stop anytime soon either, because Kevin Partner and co. have just announced a special livestream event featuring a full performance of the album. The concert, titled “Innerspeaker Live From Wave House”, will go down on Wednesday, April 21st via streaming platform Moment House. For those not in the know, Wave House isn’t a real venue. It’s the name of the studio where frontman Kevin Parker recorded the album a decade ago. Expect the audio to be perfect and the views to be even better; Wave House is a four-hour drive from Tame Impala’s hometown of Perth, Australia and has a scenic view of the Indian Ocean waves. Tickets for t...

Over a spaced-out beat, the MCs demonstrate their lyrical...
Netflix has purchased the rights for two sequels to Rian Johnson’s 2019 murder mystery, Knives Out, for a cool $450 million, according to Variety. Johnson will write and direct both sequel movies, with Daniel Craig returning as Southern detective Benoit Blanc. According to Deadline, casting will begin immediately and the first movie will begin shooting on June 28th in Greece. One of the best films of 2019, the Oscar-nominated Knives Out raked in $311.4 million on a $40 million budget. An apparent bidding war between Netflix, Apple, and Amazon drastically drove the prices up for the sequels. The first Knives Out film is centered around the murder of late mystery novelist Harlan Thrombey, with his entire family falling under suspicion for the crime. Blanc attempts to crack the case...
We’ve largely enjoyed a lot of cricket noises on the alternative powertrain front where Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Stellantis is concerned—at least ever since the Daimler divorce. (Remember the fuel-cell-powered Commander 2 Concept of 2001, which included a full refinery under the hood to separate hydrogen from methanol, which must have been slightly easier to come by than hydrogen in the day?) Well, Peugeot has had its own hydrogen-powered research vehicles and Opel benefited from years of GM hydrogen research, so once again Germany is leading the charge (with substantial help from France), as Stellantis prepares fuel-cell power for … light commercial vans. See all 6 photos What Stellantis Vehicles Will Get Fuel Cells, and When? The European brands of Stellantis have had some success selli...
