Lucinda Williams Covers Sharon Van Etten’s ‘Save Yourself’

A few weeks ago, it was announced that Sharon Van Etten’s epic is getting a fairly epic reissue treatment. One of the best parts of the reissue is that Van Etten tapped a select group of musicians to cover the songs on the album. So far, we’ve heard songs from Big Red Machine and IDLES. This week’s unveiling comes from none other than Lucinda Williams, who covers “Save Yourself.” On social media, Van Etten shared the story of their friendship, including when they first met at a show in New York in 2016. She explained how she was shy to meet the acclaimed singer-songwriter at first, but that (as they say) is ancient history. <!– // Brid Player Singles. var _bp = _bp||[]; _bp.push({ “div”: “Brid_10143537”, “obj”: {“id”:”...

Insensitive BTS Garbage Pail Kids Sticker Removed from Grammys Set

Following the 2021 Grammy Awards, popular trading card manufacturer Topps announced its “Shammy Awards” Garbage Pail Kids sticker collection. However, the company has since removed the BTS sticker from the set following swift backlash over the insensitive depiction of the K-pop stars amidst a rise in anti-Asian violence. The Garage Pail Kids are a long-running series spoofing and satirizing Cabbage Patch dolls by drawing characters in negative, often violent or vulgar situations. The Shammy set aimed to poke fun at some of music’s biggest names on music’s biggest night, focusing in on artists’ attire or performances. There’s a drawing of Taylor “Tree-Swift” becoming a tree during her woodland performance, Harry “Boa” Styles being attacked by an angry green boa, “Bouyant” Billie Eilish sing...

The Weeknd Reissuing Debut Mixtape House of Balloons for 10th Anniversary

Although The Weeknd is now a superstar, the Toronto singer’s 2011 debut mixtape, House of Balloons, emerged in a shroud of mystery. To celebrate its 10th anniversary on March 21st, he is bringing the project to all streaming platforms in its original incarnation for the first time. The reissue will coincide with an exclusive merch drop including 1,000 limited-edition vinyl. When House of Balloons was first released, The Weeknd was thought to be a group consisting of Abel Tesfaye and producers Doc McKinney and Illangelo, rather than being Tesfaye’s moniker as a solo artist. The mixtape stood out for its eclectic samples from artists like Beach House, Aaliyah, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Cocteau Twins. Unlike many other mixtape reissues from the same era, The Weeknd was able to ...

2022 BMW i4 EV Sedan First Look: Big Range, Big Power, Big Grille

The 2022 BMW i4 EV sedan premiered a bit earlier than expected, with the first few exterior photos and even fewer details released during the company’s annual conference in Munich today. It is the latest i model to be introduced under BMW’s electrified sub-brand, which has fielded stuff like the i3 EV hatchback and the i8 plug-in hybrid sports car. The production i4’s styling, it turns out, was accurately previewed by the Concept i4 last year. That said, the sedan’s visual were toned-down substantially, particularly in the headlights and wheels. While the concept looked like an aggressive sport sedan, we were told back then that wasn’t the goal for the production car. As such, the i4 you’ll be able to buy later this year looks like a less-aggressive vers...

In another scene, he’s in front of a giant control panel, seemingly back to his lonely “Spaceman” character.
