Future Islands Cover Tina Turner’s Hit “We Don’t Need Another Hero”: Stream

Future Islands have shared a new cover of Tina Turner’s classic 1985 hit “We Don’t Need Another Hero”. Stream it below. The track was recorded as part of Future Island’s new live session on SiriusXMU. While the majority of the set saw the band stripping down material from their new album As Long as You Are for an intimate radio performance, it was the cover song that stole the show — in part because their ’80s-inspired sound was born from classics like this Golden Globes-nominated single from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. As is to be expected, Future Islands glam up the Turner classic with a lot of bouncy ’80s synthpop. Leader singer Samuel T. Herring takes a smoother approach to his vocals, giving each word proper enunciation and gusto without ever overdoing it. Meanwhile, there’s some spar...

11th-Generation 2022 Honda Civic Appears Fully Uncloaked in Leaked Pics

Honda has a habit of showing off soon-to-be-revealed new vehicles as “concept cars” that are really just thinly disguised versions of the real deal. We have no reason to believe the Honda Civic Sedan Prototype the automaker debuted at the end of last year isn’t a solid look at the next-generation 2022 Civic sedan set to go on sale midway through 2021. Need proof to back up the Civic Sedan Prototype’s bona fides? These photos, which leaked onto the internet, appear to show a production-ready version of the Civic show car. See all 28 photos The images landed on Civic11Forum.com, and even though some have “burlappcar.com” watermarks, their original source is likely China. Markings on the back of the white Civic make it highly likely that the car i...

Ahead of the 2021 Grammys on Sunday night, Billboard talked with bandmembers Willie Rodriguez, Juanqui Sulsona and Silva about their nomination. Read the Q&A below: Sobrevolando is a very eclectic album, fusing reggae with other musical influences. What was your source of inspiration during these nearly 10 years of not releasing an album, especially with the rapid evolution of Latin music? Willie Rodriguez: I would say our first inspiration is our own work that continues to form part of our daily lives. The decisions we make every day and the things that we’ve said and still need to say. We always trace back to e...

Cam’ron’s Got A Funny Fatal Attraction On His Hands

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Jerritt Clark / Getty Looks like Cam’ron might’ve bitten off more than he could chew when he used some of his Pink Horse Power to turn out a PAWG soccer mom a few weeks back. After posting a raunchy video of him and his “neighbor” getting their horse and carriage on and another of said carriage proclaiming her love of Black men on IG, it seems like Cam’s got a bone-a-fied stalker on his hands as she just can’t get enough of the Harlem rapper. In some recent posts Cam is showing us how things have begun going left with his neighbor from 29C not only stalking his movements from outside her window, but even blowing up his doorbell and ultimately waiting for him in the parking lot of their apartment building. In one bird’s eye view of a video we can hear “29C...

Posthumous Tony Allen Album to Feature Damon Albarn, Danny Brown, Skepta & More

Last year, legendary Nigerian drummer Tony Allen was working on a new album when he suffered an aortic aneurysm and passed away at the age of 79. His collaborators have finished what he began, and the posthumous release There Is No End will arrive on April 30th, the anniversary of his death. You can catch a preview with lead single “Cosmosis”, which was co-written by Damon Albarn and features Skepta and Ben Okri. Allen pioneered the Afrobeat sound, drawing influences from American jazz, Ghanian highlife, and Yoruba polyrhythms to develop new grooves that continue to resonate today. He built his towering reputation by collaborating on over 30 albums with Fela Kuti, and his skills were so advanced that when he left to pursue a solo career, Kuti hired four drummers to replace him. Allen ...

Spoon’s Britt Daniel (photo by Heather Kaplan) and Tom Petty (photo by Philip Cosores) Spoon have shared covers of the late Tom Petty’s “Breakdown” and “A Face in the Crowd”. Stream both songs below. The Texas indie rockers recorded both tracks live at the Catacomb in Austin, with “Breakdown” originally being broadcast as part of Tom Petty’s 70th Birthday Bash, a virtual tribute concert that took place last fall. Back in 2017, Spoon lead singer Britt Daniel explained to Stereogum why “A Face In The Crowd” is his favorite Tom Petty song. “Divine Fits (Daniel’s other band) played ‘You Got Lucky’ at just about every gig we had. What an insane single. It’s got an intense lyric and the most powerful, creepy guitar riff and somehow Dan was able to tap into that attitude every time. It was ...

If Vans Looked as Awesome as the Hyundai Staria, Would They Sell Better?

You’re looking at the new Hyundai Staria, and before you get too excited, no, it won’t be sold here. This is the replacement for a van known as the Starex, the sort of anonymous (although in its latest facelift, almost handsome) MPV that does taxi, livery, and people-hauling duties in Asia and Europe. The van market abroad is a little different from our kiddo-hauling, cupholder-sporting traditional van market, even before the SUV wave inundated van sales. But even the most ardent Starex fans couldn’t possibly have dreamed about what it would metamorphose into. See all 22 photos Hyundai says the new Staria has a “strikingly futuristic and mysterious exterior, resembling a spaceship”—and while normally we’d rather describe a vehicle to our readers in our o...
