Legendary trance producer Armin van Buuren has postponed the dates of his “This Is Me” tour due to the impact of COVID-19. According to the FAQ section of the tour’s website, the dates have been rescheduled to June 2022. The four-day affair will now take place June 2nd to 5th, 2022, at the fabled Dutch concert venue Ziggo Dome. It’s worth noting that the Ziggo Dome recently hosted a clubbing experiment with a sample of 1,300 attendees. The trial concert, which organizers called “historic,” was planned in order for health officials to analyze Dutch regulations and safety procedures as Amsterdam slowly reopens in light of COVID-19. Sam Feldt, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, and Lady Bee performed, among other DJs. You can read m...
The Hummer will be the first GM product to use the Ultium battery platform, and it will get about 350 miles of range on a full charge. But GM now says it can get about 450 miles of range for some vehicles from its Ultium batteries. The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq midsize SUV is the second vehicle due to utilize the Ultium system and is expected to get more miles per charge than the Hummer, the Lyriq being a much smaller and lighter vehicle. Lithium-Metal Battery Brigade To take the next leap, GM is partnering with SolidEnergy Systems to jointly develop lithium-metal batteries that will power future models. Reuss announced the new joint venture at a Washington Post virtual conference. SES is a leader in lithium-metal technology and battery management software that uses artificial intelligence. GM V...
Automakers are exploring many solutions for electrifying the sort of trucks that Americans can’t get enough of. In terms of conventional manufacturers, Ford is arguably out in front. Credit the already available Ford F-150 PowerBoost gasoline-electric hybrid pickup, as well as the upcoming F-150 electric. Heck, even Ram’s eTorque “mild hybrid” system is a fuel-saving step in the right direction. Upstarts like Bollinger, Lordstown, Rivian, and now Canoo want a piece of the pie, too, but aren’t reliant on “legacy” truck platforms. But for more traditional pickups, like the sort already running around your town as work or lifestyle vehicles, Magna has an interim solution called eBeam. We’re talking about an application for trucks with ...
Robinson’s particularly busy March continues with this Sunday’s Grammy Awards, for which she is a creative producer; after that, she’s got Space Jam 2 (for which she made a dance number for star Don Cheadle) and Queens, an ABC pilot starring Brandy and Eve. While taking a breath at her Ojai, Calif. home, she spoke to Billboard about stepping into some big shoes as C2A’s choreographer — and revealed some surprises in store at the Grammys. Choreography was a major part of the original Coming to America — and it was created by none other than Paula Abdul. What impact did it have on you?I mean, it’s so incredible what she created — the dance stands up today. So it was a little daunting to think I had to go up against that. ...

Freya Ridings put her own soulful spin on Olivia Rodrigo’s No. 1 smash “Drivers License” on Thursday (March 11). Filmed at The Pool Studios in London, where she previously filmed performances of her own songs “Elephant” and “Castle,” Ridings took her seat by the piano and let her low, wavering vocals take hold of the ballad. Like Rodrigo, the English singer-songwriter got none other than Taylor Swift‘s approval when she performed a slowed-down, soulful cover of “Me!” from her 2019 album Lover at BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge in July 2019. Swift reposted the clip on her Instagram Story, writing, “This cover is incredible!! Shout out to the amazing musicians/vocalists too, this made my day!” You Deserve ...
An anniversary can be celebrated with champagne or a vacation but Michael Stipe and Mike Mills from R.E.M. decided to honor the 30th anniversary of Out of Time by looking back. The duo joined Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music Hits to reminisce about the writing, legacy and everything in between. Mills and Stipe spoke about the mega-hit “Losing My Religion,” with Stipe raving about “The energy coming off of an audience, a large audience in an outdoor arena, with the first notes, those first da, da, da, da, da and the place would just explode with energy. We got all that being on stage, being elevated, being the center of attention,” the singer recalls. “It all came right towards us. It was the biggest shot in the arm. The biggest jolt of adrenaline. The most powerf...
After four long years with no new music, The Horrors have just released their highly anticipated new EP, Lout. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. Lout is the first record The Horrors have put out since their 2017 studio album V. On the new EP, the indie punk rockers embrace a darker, industrial metal sound with ominous hooks (“Lout”), gritty bass (“Org”), and some unrelenting drumming (“Whiplash”). It’s a welcome sound that they sport well, and allegedly it came pretty naturally to the band. “There’s something about it which feels like a return to a heavier sound but really it’s a million miles away from anything we’ve done,” said keyboardist Tom Furse in a statement. “Keeping the sound aggressive and the beats heavy was a central tenet, everything seemed to fall around that.” “I...

In an interview earlier this year with Apple Music, Gomez opened up about just how long she’s been wanting to release a Spanish-language music. “This has been something I’ve wanted to do for 10 years, working on a Spanish project, because I’m so, so proud of my heritage, and just genuinely felt like I wanted this to happen. And it happened, and I feel like it’s the perfect timing. Just with all the division in the world, there’s something about Latin music that globally just makes people feel things, you know?” Gomez’s previous album, Rare — which featured her first-ever Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single “Lose You to Love Me” — was released in January 2020.
