Nike Names New VP Replacement For Ann Hebert aka “SNKRS Backdoor”, Allegedly

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Nike / NIke Last week the sneaker world was up in arms and furious when it was revealed that famous sneaker reseller WestCoastStreetWear, Joe Hebert, was actually the son of Nike VP/GM Ann Hebert (and yes, she oversaw the much-hated and frustrating Nike SNKRS app to boot). After the news caused an uproar in the sneaker community, Hebert stepped down from her position after holding it down for a quarter of a century and possibly having a hand in having us hold all those L’s the past few years. Though her son Joe Herbert maintains that his cook group and sneaker bots are the reason that he has a massive stockpile of limited edition sneakers in his mini warehouse, heads feel like his mama helped give him some kind of keys to the SNKRS backdoor. Now that Hebe...

Tariq AKA Michael Rainy Jr. Thinks Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Sold Out For VERZUZ Sale

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Brad Barket / Getty As the news of the sale of the VERZUZ platform to Triller continues to ignite conversations throughout the industry, some people are viewing the move negatively. Michael Rainey Jr. was one such critic, calling VERZUZ creators Swizz Beatz and Timbaland “sellouts” but the pair parried the young actor’s jab with facts. “Can’t ever just have something of our own. It’s always about the money… Cool move but these n*ggas still sellouts,” Rainey reportedly wrote via his @Whereis22 Instagram page and serves as a hub for his music career happenings, as reported by AllHipHop. Hollywood Unlocked screen-capped the dig from Rainey, along with responses from Timbo and Swizz letting it be known that they own stake in Triller. “But we own Triller,” Tim...

HHW Gaming: A Few Helpful Tips To Aid You On Your Mission To Buy To A PS5 or Xbox Series X

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Future Publishing / Getty It’s been roughly 5 months since the arrival of both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, and while the systems are different spec-wise, they both share one similar aspect, they are hard to find. If you asked anyone what’s the most difficult thing to purchase right now, without a doubt, the PS5, Xbox Series X, and a pair of Jordans would be on everyone’s lists. Before the launch of each next-gen console, both Microsoft and Sony warned gamers that availability would be an issue due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and they were not lying on that front. What gamers didn’t account for is the bots scooping the consoles up before they can add either one of them to their carts and swiftly dropping them on the online marketplaces like eBay or StockX. Rare Unearthed Electronic Songs by Legendary Beatles Producer to Be Reissued

Before he arranged music for The Beatles, legendary record producer George Martin experimented in electronic music. Now, two of his unearthed songs, which he has said greatly influenced his pioneering work with the Fab Four, are receiving a reissue. Back in April 1962, just two weeks before Martin met the Beatles, the late musician and audio engineer collaborated with the BBC Radiophonic Workshop’s Maddalena Fagandini to produce two electronic tracks, “Time Beat” and “Waltz in Orbit.” Both songs were released under the duo’s nom de plume, Ray Cathode. Those two songs have now been remastered and will be reissued on a rare collectible 12″ vinyl in a limited run of 100 copies. The release will also feature remixes of both tracks b...

Courtney Barnett Launches Expansive Live Archive

With concerts currently on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, Courtney Barnett is one of many artists forced to wait to perform live again until it’s safe to do so. Instead of letting that get her down, though, Barnett has just done the next best thing: start an online archive of her touring and performing history. Best of all, it’s completely free to view. Inspired by the legendary digital archives of Neil Young and The Grateful Dead, Barnett decided to organize her past live performances as a way to give back to her fans during the pandemic and immortalize her progress as a live artist. Since playing her first-ever set at The Lark Distillery’s open mic night back in 2007, the Tell Me How You Really Feel singer has gone on to play nearly 800 shows, including solo concerts, gi...

TEKE::TEKE Unleash New Song “Yoru Ni”: Stream

Montreal’s TEKE::TEKE have unleashed the new song “Yoru Ni” from their upcoming debut album Shirushi. The surf-psych seven-piece originally formed as a tribute band to Japanese guitar icon Takeshi Terauchi. But from that singular purpose, TEKE::TEKE have developed an expansively off-kilter identity, layering on the beauty of Japanese folk and the ferocity of UK punk into the perfect soundtrack for dropping acid at the beach. “Yoru Ni” means “At night,” and as guitarist Serge Nakauchi-Pelletier said in a statement, the song had a spookily nocturnal inspiration. He explained, “‘Yoru Ni’ (which translates from Japanese to ‘At night’) was literally written in the middle of the night. I woke up suddenly and had this melody in my head, as if it had come to me from another world. It really felt l...

Lou Ottens, Cassette Creator, Dies at 94

In the history of recorded music, the cassette tape plays an important role, falling after vinyl and reel-to-reel, and years before the digital revolution. The inventor of cassette technology, Lou Ottens, died at the age of 94 at his home in Duizel, Brabant, Belgium. It was in 1963 that the first plastic encased cassette tape was presented at an electronics fair with the slogan “smaller than a pack of cigarettes!” That said, Ottens, who retired in 1986, said in an interview that he was not on board with the recent cassette tape boom, saying, “nothing could beat the sound of a CD.” <!– // Brid Player Singles. var _bp = _bp||[]; _bp.push({ “div”: “Brid_10143537”, “obj”: {“id”:”25115″,”width”:”480̸...

Mumford & Sons Banjo Player to Take Leave of Absence From Band

On March 7, Winston Marshall, guitarist and banjo player for British folk stars Mumford & Sons, shared his support of author and right-wing disinformation spreader Andy Ngo via a tweet that read: “Finally had the time to read your important book. You’re a brave man.” The book in question? Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan To Destroy Democracy. <!– // Brid Player Singles. var _bp = _bp||[]; _bp.push({ “div”: “Brid_10143537”, “obj”: {“id”:”25115″,”width”:”480″,”height”:”270″,”playlist”:”10315″,”inviewBottomOffset”:”105px”} }); –> While Marshall quickly deleted the tweet, it wasn’t in time to prevent backlas...

Matthew Knowles Calls Fans “Idiots” For Beyoncé x Chloe Bailey Comparison

Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Matthew Knowles may be known in the industry as being the one to develop Destiny’s Child and his legendary daughters but when it comes to comparing anyone to his children, he is very much still a dad. During an interview with radio personality, Leah A. Henry for “Leah’s Lemonade,” Papa Knowles discussed his feelings about the comparisons between his eldest daughter, Beyonce, and half of the Bey signed duo Chloe x Halle, Chloe Bailey, revealing that he doesn’t agree. Matthew Knowles stated that while he understands the comparison for Chloe to portray the triple threat in a biopic, he feels that fans trying to compare the two women’s talent are “idiots.” It all went down toward the end of their chat, when Leah told him that a lot of fans online constantly compare...
