First Out: New Music From Girl in Red, St. Vincent, Siena Liggins & More

Girl in Red, “Serotonin” Put a fast-rising talent like Girl in Red in the studio with one of the hottest producers of the moment, Finneas, and you get a song like “Serotonin.” Marie Ulven, the titular Girl who wears a lot of Red, has never sounded quite as good as she does on this upbeat, blown-out, bass-thumping anthem about clinical depression — yes, you read that correctly. Finneas adds his knack for off-the-wall production choices, including a dreamy, bedroom-pop guitar buildup that exists only to be thrown away for a chorus featuring floor-shaking beats and speaker-melting bass. Ulven’s incisive songwriting adds the final cherry on top, as she viscerally describes her dark thoughts, before concluding “From the corners of my mind/ I’m terrified...

According to published reports, amid her divorce from Kanye West, Kim Kardashian will not be moving out of the $60 million mansion the couple shared in Hidden Hills. PEOPLE adds that per a statement from an exclusive source close to the couple, that two came to the decision based on the fact it’s both best for the kids and where they primarily reside while Kanye usually traveled between the Los Angeles mansion and their Wyoming ranch. “Kim plans on staying at the Hidden Hills house with the kids. This is their home and Kim doesn’t want to move right now at least,” the source told the publication. “Kanye lives elsewhere but is happy that Kim is staying at the family house...

Young Carter Go Farther: Jay-Z Changed Handle On Twitter To Mr. Carter

Source: (Photo by Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Roc Nation) / (Photo by Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Roc Nation) Jay-Z‘s birth-given name has been known for decades, and his sparse use of social media is just one part of the many veils of the rapper and businessman’s persona. Via Twitter, in the wake of a brand-new deal, Hov changed his handle to reflect his last name while dropping off some tweets and it didn’t go unnoticed. As we previously reported, Square, co-founded by Jay-Z’s friend and business partner Jack Dorsey, purchased a majority stake of TIDAL, which prompted a flurry of tweets from Hov after a few years of not using the platform. “I said from the beginning that TIDAL was about more than just streaming music, and six years later, it has remained a platform that supports artist...

Metallica Donates $75,000 to Texas Food Banks

Metallica’s All Within My Hands non-profit donated $75,000 to Feeding America to support the many Texans suffering since last month’s crippling blizzards and winter storms. The monetary gift will help provide aid to those in need of food and supplies after enduring weeks without power and safe drinking water. On their AWMH page, the band explained, “The winter storm that struck Texas last month was beyond anything the state’s residents could imagine preparing for. As temperatures dropped well below freezing and widespread power outages swept the area, families suffered. Grocery chains did the best they could to support their communities, but their supply was hit hard.” The statement continued about Metallica’s commitment to fighting food insecurity: “While temperatures ...

2022 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo First Look: Shockingly Practical EV Wagon

Despite the new Taycan Cross Turismo’s extra ride height, tough body cladding, mud guards, and generally off-road-ready looks, this isn’t some Dakar-ready Porsche EV. As cool as that would be, Porsche insists that the 2022 Taycan Cross Turismo is merely a more well-rounded version of the slinky Taycan sedan. The electric wagon also is better suited—even if only on paper, or in appearance—for those who live in temperamental climates or fancy themselves adventurous types. After all, the normal Taycan is available with all-wheel drive, meaning it could probably handle a snowy road just as well. To that point, even though it may look different from (and some might say better than) the standard Taycan, Porsche says almost everything from the wagon’s beltline down (in...

Kings of Leon Unveil New Album When You See Yourself: Stream

Kings of Leon have unveiled their first album in five years, When You See Yourself. Stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify. The 11-song effort is the Nashville-bred band’s first full-length since 2016’s WALLS. They previewed the album with three singles — “The Bandit”, “100,000 People”, and “Echoing” — but the most compelling aspect of the rollout process had nothing to do with the sound of the music (which is quite good). Earlier this week, the group announced that they were going to be the first band to ever release an entire album in NFT form — that’s “non-fungible token” for those who aren’t aware. NFT’s are essentially a cryptocurrency for art: images, videos, music, and even items like concert tickets that are sold on an online marketplace like Bitcoin. In add...

The Lemonhead’s Evan Dando Performed in a Walgreens That Found His Wallet

The Lemonheads’ Evan Dando performed a short set in a Cape Cod Walgreens after the location found his lost wallet. After Dando misplaced his wallet on February 27th, he did what any Gen X rock icon with a devoted local following would do: he pleaded for help on Twitter. “I dropped my wallet with my drivers license and two debit cards in it,” he wrote. “I was walking from the mariner hotel to the palmer lot…. please have a look if you are on them streets.” At the height of his desperation, he even resorted to the caps-lock bittpm, typing, “HOTEL MAIN STREET FALMOUTH TO THE PALMER LOT.” Remarkably, it helped. “I work at Walgreens in Falmouth and your wallet was just turned in to us,” local hero Mike Ghelfi replied. “I’ll keep it in the office safe until you can get it.” Editors’ Picks ...
