It’s to celebrate the UK and Ireland release of The White Stripes Greatest Hits on vinyl and CD. This is one of many archived performances that are being revealed as of late. There was also one at London’s Maida Vale Studios in November 2005, a few months following the release of Get Behind Me Satan. The take was captured by Radiohead and R.E.M. producer Nigel Godrich and award-winning video director Sophie Muller. It was originally broadcast in 2007 as part of the series’ pilot episode and this is the first time the set has been shown in its entirety. There’s also the performance of “Seven Nation Army” from their legendary 2...
Based on conversations with governors in key U.S. states, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino is optimistic that large-scale American concerts are closer than ever to returning. He said that “a clear outline to a 75% to 100%” capacity for outdoor U.S. events in 2021 was looking likely to be green-lit.” Speaking on Live Nation’s Q4 2020 earnings call and as reported by Music Business Insider, Rapino said, “[We] think we’re better off waiting for a high bar capacity moment in most of the states to ramp up and talk to the artists about getting paid properly.” Rapino added that the prospect capacity re-opening in the largest U.S. markets with over 75% capacity was “within sight.” “We are seeing… what we’ve been talking about: [fans] are excited to get back to the show as soon as we get the green li...
Looks like the sweetie man is coming back. Neill Blomkamp has confirmed that he’s currently working on the screenplay for District 10, the long-awaited sequel to his 2009 breakthrough District 9. In a tweet, the filmmaker revealed that Sharlto Copley, who also starred in the original, and Terri Tatchell, Blomkamp’s wife and frequent collaborator, are co-writing the script with him. “It’s coming,” Blomkamp promised. District 9 established Blomkamp as an auteur sci-fi filmmaker with a keen sense of world building and special effects. The movie was a hit, grossing over $210 million globally on a budget of just $30 million, winning praise for its found-footage storytelling and allegorical commentary on xenophobia and apartheid. However, Blomkamp has been unable to recreate the success since th...
On Monday, Daft Punk shook the music world by announcing their breakup. One famous fan who was particularly heartbroken is Tame Impala mastermind Kevin Parker, who recently compared his reaction to hearing about the duo’s split as akin to “someone’s that’s died.” “I guess I wasn’t expecting to be as emotional as I was, especially because I watched the video they released, that kind of eight-minute thing, which I think has already been on a movie of theirs, obviously re-contextualized for them announcing their split-up, but it really moved me,” he said, in an interview with Apple Music’s Matt Wilkinson. “Yeah, it shook me. It was almost like when you hear about someone that’s died. I know it’s obviously not nearly as tragic as when someone dies, but that kind of shock.” Even so, Parker went...

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are the musical equivalent of soulmates. Cave, the legendary singer and songwriter, and Ellis, the dynamic Bad Seed and Dirty Three violinist, have worked together for decades, in the studio and on the road. They’ve composed film scores, basically lived in each other’s pockets. They even counted on one another as bandmates, in Grinderman. They’ve never cut an entire album of works as a duo, until now. Cave and Ellis dropped the aptly-named Carnage at the stroke of midnight. It’s an album, explains Cave, an inductee in the ARIA Hall of Fame, that’s “a brutal but very beautiful record nested in a communal catastrophe.” You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. As such, the concept car cribbed its underpinnings from the Buick Park Avenue full-size sedan. The use of the flagship Buick model’s unibody architecture afforded the Signia a low step-in height while also offering a raised, SUV-like seating position. See all 10 photos Although the Signia was no beauty pageant contender, its design certainly included a number of attractive styling elements. Look past the concept’s dowdy mug and details such as the concept’s prominent rear fender line (gracefully mirrored by the rear window, too), steeply raked C-pillar, and single-piece rear hatch glass—that covers the entirety of the cargo hold— come together to give the illusion of a rear-drive powertrain. In reality, the concept’s transverse-mounted supercharged 3.8-l...
