Source: Steven Ferdman / Getty The Source magazine used to be considered the Hip-Hop Bible, and it wasn’t hyperbole. At the height of its influence, The Source Awards was a mainstay, and the ceremony honoring the accomplishments of rappers and the culture is set to return next year after a hiatus of almost two decades. “Hip-hop needs its premiere awards show back,” L. Londell McMillan, the current CEO and owner of The Source, recently told Page Six, “After every awards show, our social media at The Source explodes … so back by popular demand.” Reportedly, the brand is also launching a streaming channel. The last proper Source Awards went down 17 years ago. Perhaps its most infamous moment was at the 1995 Source Awards when the currently incarcerated Suge Knight called out Sean “Diddy” Comb...
This week, British dance-pop export Joel Corry officially announced an incoming collaboration with contemporary music powerhouses David Guetta and Raye, due Friday, February 26th. The news of the single, titled “BED,” came alongside a saucy photo shoot featuring each artist tucked into their beds. Naturally, Raye stole the show. Corry also posted a teaser of the track on his Instagram, hinting at bouncy, festival-ready dance-pop tune overlaid with Raye’s feathery vocals. Originally garnering attention with his smash single “Head & Heart” with MNEK, Corry knows this sonic territory well. Meanwhile, the seamless integration of vocals and synths speaks to Guetta’s finesse. He has previously worked with Raye on two additional tracks, inclu...
Just like the countless concert venues who have felt the wrath of COVID-19 over the course of the past year, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre is adjusting to the new norm. According to Denver CBS affiliate KKTV, the fabled open air venue is planning a “big announcement” in April after submitting COVID-19 variance requests to city and state health officials. CBS Denver adds that fans can expect a much different concert experience than years past due to new safety measures instated to mitigate the spread of the virus, such as mask-wearing and vastly reduced capacity. “You know you’ll still be able to see a show and you’ll be in the venue, but it’s not going to feel that same way as it has in the past,” said Red Rocks spokesman Brian Kit...
Blondie have announced a new graphic novel called Against the Odds. It’s a collaboration with Z2 Comics that will illustrate the story of the iconic new-wave band’s rise in the New York art and fashion world. The book is Blondie’s first foray into the world of comics, but they’re the only newbies involved with the project. Against the Odds was illustrated by the acclaimed comic book artist John McCrea, and it was co-written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti — the duo who penned DC Comics’ relaunch of Harley Quinn. With vivid color, the book will chronicle the band’s come-up in Manhattan’s notorious punk and art world of the 1970s. Conner was actually there, watching Blondie at clubs like CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City and rubbing shoulders with the likes of Andy Warhol and David Bowi...

Chloe x Halle dropped the futuristic video for the title track from their 2020 album “Ungodly Hour” on Wednesday night (Feb. 24). The eye-popping clip directed by Alfred Marroquín (Rosalia, Sech) opens with the sisters dressed in head-to-toe blue vinyl outfits inside a dark, mysterious laboratory, posing and twitching to the song’s heartbeat rhythm as the lights flicker around them. The scene then turns to a shallow pool, with both singers laying in the water wearing nude-colored, bedazzled body suits in between flashes of them in a spare expanse rocking silver gowns and Erykah Badu-like facial hardware. The whole thing feels like a glimpse of dystopian, fashion-forward future set to the song’s soothing flow and vocals, which have them warning, “You know ...
