Lexus says “a new era of F Sport performance vehicles is coming.” We’d elaborate, but that’s all the automaker has said while at the same time releasing the image above of an F Sport badge on what looks like some sort of carbon-fiber panel. In short—as short as Lexus’s statement—this could be anything. Rather than speculate, let’s recap what F Sport is. To the Lexus brand, it is a sport-themed trim level that on most models adds more aggressive styling bits and a host of “F Sport” badging. You can find F Sport variants of the Lexus UX, NX, and RX crossovers and SUVs, as well as the IS, ES, and LS sedans, not to mention the RC coupe. Notably missing from this lot is the brand’s LC and LX flagship coupe and SUV. M...
An adorable retro-inspired electric vehicle got a lot of attention a few weeks ago. The Alpha Motor Ace, an electric coupe with an aesthetic that can only be described as mid-century modern European, seemed to capture the full potential of EVs to break out of contemporary car styling and explore unusual and interesting forms. With fewer constraints from packaging hardpoints, EVs—and in particular, skateboard-chassis ones—are ripe for this sort of thing. The Ace’s cartoonish (in a good way) proportions communicate fun in a way no Nissan Leaf can. Carrying that to its next logical extreme, there’s the Jax, an off-road inspired variant (that still only exists in digital form), and a sleeker Ace Performance Edition. In a brazen defiance of Ireland’s lockdown policy, a group of organizers are promoting an illicit St. Patrick’s Day event that they say will not be discovered by law enforcement. Social media accounts on Instagram and Snapchat promoting the “Paddys Day Lockdown Rave” have captured the attention of thousands. In an attempt to thwart the possibility of being fully removed from social media, the group has created backup accounts to continue publicizing the event. The organizers state the location of the forthcoming event will be given out 12 hours before its kickoff, which is scheduled for 3PM on March 17th, 2021. Dublin Live “We just have to be safe. The warehouse picked out for the event can hold up to 5,000 people and will be in the north Kildare/Dublin ...
McKinley Dixon will make his Spacebomb Records debut on May 7th with the new album For My Mama and Anyone Who Look Like Her. The emerging MC is previewing the release with the lead single, “make a poet Black”. In 2018, with little industry support, Dixon put himself on the map with a pair of self-released LPs, The Importance of Self Belief and Who Taught You to Hate Yourself? That output attracted the attention of Matthew E. White’s Spacebomb label, which is better known for folk- and funk-inflected artists like Natalie Prass, Hiss Golden Messenger, and Fruit Bats. But setting genre aside, Spacebomb has become a home for incisive lyricism, and in that sense, Dixon fits right in. For My Mama and Anyone Who Look Like Her is an album-length exploration of trauma and time. As Dixon m...
In true ODESZA fashion, the famed electronic tandem remained quiet in 2020 when it came to new music. However, with a simple tweet, they’ve now reignited hope in their diehard fanbase that new music may soon be on the way. “hi guys we workin I promise,” ODESZA wrote yesterday, February 15th, on Twitter. While we’re unable to confirm anything beyond the notion that new music is currently in the works, fans can certainly hold out hope that the duo will finally emerge from the shadows of their studio. Considering ODESZA’s proclivity for producing cohesive bodies of work as opposed to singles, it’s fair to wonder if they have a new album in the works—it’s been nearly four years since September 2017’s scintillating A Moment Apa...

The filming location for the Netflix miniseries about Colin Kaepernick is on high security alert after a reported threat from the right-wing Proud Boys organization. On Friday, as TMZ reports, the anti-Black Lives Matter group was allegedly planning to protest the production about the former NFL quarterback-turned-civil rights icon. Producers were told in a memo last week that, “anti-BLM sentiments may protest against the production.” Additionally, two anonymous production members told TMZ that the office received an ominous phone call last week, believed to be from the militant far-right Proud Boys. Fortunately, the threat never materialized into anything physical. But TMZ reports that there were internal emails between executives and staff that added additional security measures in order...
Rick Ross is the latest artist to appear on NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series, which is currently celebrating Black History Month. True to his Boss nickname, he performed a lavish 20-minute set while perched atop a gold-plated throne. According to NPR, the concert marks the Miami rapper’s only second time performing with a live band. During the set, which took place in a gallery space owned by Miami artist Rich B Caliente, the Maybach Music Group label head ran through some of his biggest hits, including “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” and “Aston Martin Music”, as well as fan favorites like “I’m Not a Star” and “Tears of Joy”. Ross’ most recent album was 2019’s Port of Miami 2, the sequel to his breakout 2006 debut. In 2020, he made guest appearances on projects by Freddie Gibbs, Te...
Braun, the SB Ventures founder and manager to A-list artists including Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, made headlines in June 2019 when Ithaca purchased Taylor Swift’s former record label Big Machine for a reported $300 million. That led Swift to speak out against the acquisition, claiming Braun had engaged in “incessant, manipulative bullying” of her over a period of several years. Last November, Ithaca sold Swift’s master recordings to Shamrock Holdings, again drawing the pop star’s ire. Swift has since begun the process of re-recording her first six albums, with the first of them, Fearless, set to drop Apr. 9. In addition to Big Machine, Ithaca’s music holdings include Schoolboy Records and the Universal Music Publishing Group co-venture Sheba Publishing. You Deserve to Mak...
