DJ Spinderella Wants Apology Before Considering Salt-N-Pepa Reunion

Source: Al Pereira / Getty DJ Spinderella continues to publicly express disappointment in the way her former bandmates omitted her from the Salt-N-Pepa biopic that aired last month. While the film was well-received in the Hip-Hop community, the frustrated DJ is adamant her legacy was erased from the story, causing even deeper damage to the already fragile relationship within the group.  “The relationship is over,” Sandra “Spinderella” Roper tells Billboard about the falling out with Salt-N-Pepa’s Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton. Launching a reunion project following the film’s premiere would have been the perfect opportunity to reconnect with fans, but that won’t happen unless there’s a grand gesture of reconciliation. “The only way something like that would happen is if ...

Power to the People: Amanda Gorman Honored Pandemic Heroes During Super Bowl LIV

Source: Rob Carr / Getty Super Bowl LIV‘s performers are being championed for “setting the tone” of the highly anticipated showdown and among those who graced the stage, was 22-year old Amanda Gorman. On Sunday (Feb 7), the world watched the battle of the titans go down as the Tampa Bay Buccanneers faced off against the seemingly unstoppable Kansas City Cheifs but it was the artistry of the performers that stole the show, including Inaugural poet Amanda Gorman, who once again made history as the first person to ever perform an original poem during the game, chose to share her spotlight with the hard workers on the frontline of the pandemic. “Poetry at the Super Bowl is a feat for art and our country because it means we’re thinking imaginatively about human connection even when we feel silo...

Drake’s OVO Air Force 1’s Get Teased On Social Media

Source: NOCTA / NIke For a second there it seemed like adidas was able to pull off one of their biggest coups when Drake was seemingly waving goodbye to Nike and making his way to the three stripe brand. Ultimately Drizzy thought better of it and remained an ambassador for the Swoosh and eventually dropped his own NOCTA collection which sold out in seconds. Now we’ve gotten a sneak peak at his long rumored OVO x Air Force 1 collaboration and the color itself might be enough to make this a hot commodity. Teased by Mark Robinson a.k.a. OVO Mark, we got a closeup look at the heel tab which features an “OVO” stitched under the “Nike” emblem and an light purple hue leather covering the classic silhouette. Man, these are kinda butter. Whether or not these joints will see a general release or rem...

We were like ‘2020 is gonna be the best year our band has ever had.’ So let’s make a party record,’” Grohl told host Jimmy Fallon. Then, well, you know. “We sat on it. Let’s wait, and see if things go back to ‘normal.’ Then they were like, ‘dude, let’s go, let’s give it to the people.’” The frontman discussed the vibe of Medicine at Midnight, stressing the album’s “grooves. It’s hard to call it a dance record,” he quipped. “If you put the word ‘dance’ with the ...

BTS have broken so many American records that it’s hard to remember there was a time where they weren’t one of the most popular international artists in the US. According to her publicist, Wilson passed away suddenly on Monday evening (February 8th) at her home in Henderson, Nevada. A cause of death was not immediately disclosed. Andrew Bird and Jimbo Mathus Unveil New Song “Poor Lost Souls”: Stream

Andrew Bird and Jimbo Mathus wish blessings on Los Angeles’ homeless population on their new song “Poor Lost Souls”. The former Squirrel Nut Zippers bandmates have remained friends since parting ways in the ’90s, and Bird even joined SNZ for “Train on Fire” from their 2020 album Lost Songs of Doc Souchon. Now, the two songwriters are fulfilling a longtime ambition and collaborating on an album, These 13, which contains a baker’s dozen of folksy new tracks. The latest, “Poor Lost Souls”, takes place in LA, where, as the lyrics have it, you can “Look down and see the stars/ Look up and see the gold/ Look around and see these poor lost souls.” Mathus keeps up a steady groove of guitar, while Bird adds fiddle accents. The song highlights the absurdity of abundance surrounding need, w...

Foo Fighters Perform “Waiting on a War” on Fallon: Watch

Foo Fighters were guests on Monday night’s edition Jimmy Fallon, promoting their new album, Medicine at Midnight. After frontman Dave Grohl chatted it up with the Tonight Show host, the band performed their single “Waiting on a War”. The track is a stirring piece of a hopeful anxiety, with low synths and bass underscoring a tension that waits until the very end to break. As such, this wasn’t a face-melting rock show of a late night performance, with Foo Fighters instead delivering a relatively simple run-through of the song in a purple-lit set. That said, it’s a powerful enough song to still grab you even in such a straightforward set up — especially once Taylor Hawkins and the band got to rip into it during the outro. Prior to taking the remote stage with the rest of the Fighters, Gr...
